This book is more like an analysis of the SNES gaming era. It explains the inspiration, evolution and the impact classic games like Castlevania, Zelda, Street Fighter, Metroid, Mario, Contra, etc had on that generation as well as and the past three decades. The analysis is well written and is presented in beautiful 16-bit pixel art that makes the gen 4 special.It comes in sturdy hardcover with a sleeve. It is an awesome collectible and guide to own for an SNES collector or to any gaming enthusiast.(It is worth noting that this is not a compendium that catalogues every individual game. There is another book from the same publisher called SNES visual compendium that does that.)

Got this as a Christmas present for the husband and he loves it. Comes with a sturdy protective sleeve. Let's you see images as a whole that are normally a moving scene in games. Neat well written blurbs to accompany each game and pictures. Happy with my purchase!

My wife gifted me this treasure this past Christmas and I haven’t put it down since. Like all Bitmap books, this thing SCREAMS quality. From the beautiful slip case to the amazing pictures printed on thick glossy paper, every inch of this book is lovingly crafted. This will remain on my coffee table for a long time...well, at least until Bitmap releases their upcoming Atari book!
