Better than expected
This is my first digital scope. I have extensive experience with rifle scopes with price range from cheap to well over $3k...and I do own Gen3 night scopes. I have limited experience with thermo scopes. Some impressions on the Sightmark:1. It feels very solidly built. Made of metal and is pretty hefty.2. Not much instructions, but the menu system is very easy to navigate.3. Image quality is surprisingly good in good light. Especially at 1x magnification, which really is 3x magnification. The zoom is a digital zoom and if you're familiar with digital zooms on your phones, it is not nearly as good as optical zoom. On the sight mark, the image starts to pixelate at 4x which is about 12x optical. Not bad...I saw a prior review saying that the image is shaky...the reviewer apparently doesn't know much about optics...yes it's shaky...when you're at 3x optical equivalent, your movement and shakes are 3x worse than 1x...at 18x optical equivalent, you're movements and shakes are 18x magnified...this is how optics work.4. Night vision is not great without the illuminator. With the illuminator the image is BETTER than my Gen 3 by a good margin. This is great for hunting...but for you wanna be tactical dudes....the illuminator will obviously give away your position to others using night vision type devices5. Frankly I've not used much of the recording so I won't comment.6. Battery life is really good, and the fact that it runs off a battery pack is a fantastic option. What I think could be better1. This uses digital camera technology...I wish it has some sort of autofocus..even some thing rudimentary to get things close to be in focus...now it's totally manual focus2. This comes the front lens cover...but not for the back lens. Which can get dusty despite the shroud.3. I wish the mount is a bit longer to allow a bit more flexibility...and I wish the quick release mount is standard rather than a $50 option.4. Firmware needs an update soon...it does freeze and crash some times. I'm using 2.12 and it does have times when the menus is not accessible, or when it won't record, and some times it's very slow to shut down. I'll update to 2.20 to see if it's better.Overall, I think this is a very nice scope for most purposes...would I recommend this over a $800 optical scope? Probably yes for these reasons. First, it's much easier to use than an optical scope...one shot zero is much easier than knobs and zero stops, etc. Second....there's lots of retinal choices...which most beginners have a hard time choosing...Third, the night sight option is a very interesting option and works very well.Who shouldn't get this? Long range competitive shooters....the optics simply isn't as good as a that of say a Viper PSTII....It's pretty heavy...and it runs on battery. So if you need absolute reliability, get an optical scope. Digital scopes are like a small computer...it can and does freeze and malfunction at a software level. And like I said before...it's not for the tactical type...in order to see in dim light...you need an illuminator...which will make you very visible...like a bright light in the night to other night vision user...unlike a true Gen 3 device which gathers ambient light much better.Other thoughts...I think that this scope is probably best suited for the AR 15 platform based on it's optical range and mounting system. Only thing it it's a pretty heavy scope and would weigh down the rifle quite a bit. There's an optional extended mount that might work better for bolt action rifles.

Amazon delivery is just horrible!!!! HEY JEFF, please stop amazon delivery and use UPS or USPS only!
This is a great product! Fairly simple to use, great quality and accuracy. I already own two of them, one mounted on a bolt action .204 and the other on an AR platform, with great success on both. But this review is about Jeff and his amazon delivery. I ordered this on Tues with a promised delivery of Wed morning via amazon delivery. By Friday amazon delivery had lost the package. Now the only course of action for me is to cancel the order and rebuy (at a higher cost). Jeff needs to stay in is lane and focus on selling products and let the adults do the delivery. This is not the first time I have dealt with this exact problem and its no wonder. Have you ever seen the people Jeff is sending to your neighborhood, to your door? I have become more and more disappointed with amazon as the convenience they use to offer is no longer provided. I try to buy direct when I can to avoid amazon as much as possible but the price was too appealing.

Works as advertised
Works nice and easy to attach to firearm. Easy to sight in. I did have it freeze on me twice, but overall am happy with it. It is a bit heavy. Good quality material and has a clear picture.

Won't hold zero, therefore USELESS. Need to do firmware update on WINDOWS not Mac (see update)
Minimal learning curve, very, very easy to operate. I had difficulty installing firmware on my Mac butI emailed Support with regular email as well as the on their website message system (I'm talking about SightMark Support) and it's been 12 hours and no response. I tried to call them five times and after holding each time for 15 minutes it ask you to leave a voicemail, which I did once and of course nobody called me backI. One needs to do firmware update on a WINDOWS machine !Someone got back to me from voice mail that I left.UPDATE 25 Jan 2024: Locked up/froze frequently, required reset by holding down power switch for 30 seconds. Usually happened when I did a 1 shot sight-in and exited out of the menus. 8X magnification is very grainy in complete darkness when use the included illuminator.UPDATE 26 Jan 2024: I was tuning an air rifle and using the scope for a few hours. On several occasions, when I was using one shot zero, it froze up and I had to restart it but I holding down the power button for 30 seconds. An inconvenience and unacceptable. Then it would not hold zero. I do a one shot zero and got the bullet where it needed to be then changed distances and used position 2 and position 3 for those distances with one shot zero and then when I came back to shoot those distances it had lost its zero point so what good is that? You think you have a scope that zero'd and it isn't. Sightmark agreed to replace it but this is a SOFTWARE issue and I have the latest firmware 2.26, so a replacement would be no different. I returned it to Amazon and bought a Pard DS35-70 LRF. There's no such thing as "usually reliable", correct? It's either reliable or it is not.

works
Works as described, good visibility day and night, relatively easy to sight in, seems to hold "zero", mounted on 5.56..

Sightmark wraith UHD digital scope
This thing is awesome. The infrared night vision works amazingly well on this. The clarity and zoom are too notch, plus the ability to record at 4k with sound is impressive. I coyote hunt at night and rechargeable battery lasts 6 hours with scope on in freezing temperatures. The infrared flashlight that comes with it however only lasts about 2 hours and requires an odd sized set of batteries that aren’t cheap, about $5 each. Might be worth getting an aftermarket rechargeable infrared flashlight to go with this. It is supposed to be one shot zero but if you dont have a vice, it’s more like 4 or 5 which is still great. Scope has been on for 6 months and still holds zero. This is definitely worth the money and a very cool tool for hunting day or night

You get what you pay for.
While the scope works, you get what you pay for. Not intuitive to use. For the money, it works okay.
