Small, but comfy little covers!
Tried these frozen today, seem to work good, but their more for small areas, and certainly not big places like a sore back. I will say they covers are very soft and comfy, but they block to much cold in my humble opinion. They would be perfect for a headache, or for your hand, something small. I don't use a microwave anymore, so I'll have to put them in hot water for the heat part, hope they hold up to that. Very cute little compress bags. But be sure and read the size, cause they are small.

Cold & Hot
They were better than I had hoped. Nice size and definitely contour to where ever you need them. They did chill in 30 minutes and stayed cold. And the microwave was perfect to heat the pads. I highly recommend these pads.

The BEST gel packs!!
I love these gel packs as they are flexible and conform to your chin, head, cheeks, elbow, etc.... The soft cover is very nice so if the gel pack is too cold you can put the cover on. They don't take up a lot of space in the freezer and are ready to go whenever you get a bump.

Product quality has gone downhill
I had two of these that I purchased several years ago. They lasted a LONG time. The new ones I ordered 6 months ago are already starting to leak. I like the size of them and the cover that is provided, but I'll be looking for a new brand.

Great Covers Make These Perfect for Applying Heat.
I chose the Thrive Gel Beads 2-Pack to replace my 20-year-old gel packs because they come with covers and seemed a good value for two gel packs. These packs are made of PVC, filled with blue and clear beads, and a little over 7 x 4 inches in size. They are perhaps 5/8 inch thick when the beads are distributed evenly. They come with blue velour covers that are a perfect thickness for protecting the skin from burning without blocking too much heat, as a towel tends to do. The set comes in a grey drawstring bag, which is placed in a plastic Ziploc-style bag. The package is thoughtfully put together, giving the impression that we're getting a good value for our money.I use these gel packs primarily for heat. The instructions that are included with the product advise to heat them in a microwave oven for 10-20 seconds depending on the wattage of your oven. Mine is an old oven and not very strong, so it takes me 1 minute to heat up the packs. You have to watch them, though. If you overheat the packs, the PVC casing swells up. This is a little alarming, as it makes me think the pack is going to explode and make a big mess. When the packs are sufficiently heated, insert them into their covers. If they are too hot to handle, wait a while. Thrive advises to let them stand a couple minutes before using. I find that they hold sufficient heat for 30 minutes. The Thrive gel packs are well-designed. I love the covers. In case you lose the instructions, they are also printed on the packs themselves. There are complaints that the packs do not hold cold for long. Thrive's instructions advise not to use the cold packs for more than 15 minutes, perhaps because they don't stay cold longer. Since you have two packs, you can switch them out. I suspect the problem is that beads are not ideal for cold compresses, as they don't have a surface that contacts the skin and tend to warm up quickly because they are spherical. For cold therapy, you might try Thrive's Crystal Blue Gel Ice Packs. These gel bead packs are good for heat therapy, in any case.

Perfect size and weight!
I am so happy with this purchase! I recently had shoulder surgery and need to ice my shoulder regularly to reduce swelling and pain. These are the perfect size and weight. I have others that work great also, but they were too heavy to place on my surgical site. I also love the feel of the cover. It’s soft and did not stick to my stitches. I highly recommend this product.

Soft and effective
Our dog has a tear in her knee. While we wait for surgery, I wanted to get her an ice pack that wasn’t rock solid. This was the perfect solution. It’s soft, yet delivers the temperature effectively.

Stay flexible tv
The gel packs stay flexible once frozen, just shape them in whatever shape you need, so you can cool hard to reach spots. Love them!
