Touching and addictive. shocking end!
I’m so late reviewing this brilliant book. Huge apologies Hodder & Stoughton. Missed some reviews.Anyhow. This was absolutely thrilling and shocking, especially at the end. An end that makes you think WOW, oh my god! Full of suspense. An ending you won’t forget. Two strong and savvy women, from different ends of the spectrum, both desperate to change their lives. They switch tickets at the airport. Unfortunately Claire doesn’t know what she has let herself in for. Circumstances change and Claire takes on Eva’s identity and her troubling life, a life mixed up in drugs which becomes dark and threatening.Another dual timeline, that works. Two key characters, Claire and Eva. Danielle is a third character who supports Claire’s husband Rory, she plans her diary and keeps an eye on her every move. You need to keep an eye on Danielle.Claire married into a high society family, her husband is a politician, on the outside a perfect life, however behind closed doors she is a physically abused wife. And I mean physically abused and caged like a beautiful bird. She has no choice, Claire needs to find an way out. This is all about inner strength, about how these two strong but vulnerable characters switch at an airport and take on each other’s identity. Then it’s about what they have to deal with to survive. It starts with a punch and the pace picks up, weaving the two accounts into one fierce and enjoyable ride. It’s a thrilling story how they will do anything to escape their current reality and the impact and consequences of doing this. I couldn’t put it down, loved every page!Touching and addictive. Would highly recommend.Thank you so very much Hodder & Stoughton, Julie Clark and NetGalley for this ARC provided in exchange for my unbiased review.

This was an entertaining read, fast paced and full of tension.
In the publics eyes, Claire Cook has it all, married to a very ambitious politician. perfect life. But away from the public life is so different, her every move is scrutinised by an abusive, controlling husband. Claire is so unhappy that she has been planning her escape from him for several months.Claire makes her escape and heads to the airport where a chance meeting with Eva changes her plans. Both women are desperate to escape their current lives and decide to make switch tickets at the last-minute decision. Claire takes Eva’s flight to Oakland, and Eva traveling to Puerto Rico as Claire. With the switch made the two women continue with their journey’s but when the flight to Puerto Rico crashes killing all the passengers Claire realises she can now take on Eva’s identity. Claire assumes Eva’s identity, but it soon becomes obvious that Eva led a far more complicated life than she imagined. This was an entertaining read, fast paced and full of tension.

A-MAZ-ING!!
A-MAZ-ING!!!! Very few books have kept me gripped throughout in the way this one did, or kept my pulse racing with no let up in the tension. I read a comment about how this book would make a brilliant Netflix series, and I couldn't agree more. Thrillers, when done well, are the best escapism, and this is one of the most exciting and well-written plots that I have read in a long time. I was fully invested in the two main characters stories, and could not put it down, but at the same time didn't want it to end.Claire is married to a powerful politician, Rory Cook. But she hides a secret. Behind closed doors, he is a controlling, manipulative and abusive husband.Eva made a mistake in college that has changed her life irrevocably. She has found herself cooking up and dealing drugs and can see no way out.Two women living in fear. Two women at an airport wishing to disappear. Could they pull off a heist that would allow them both to break free of the chains that bind them, and rebuild their lives somewhere no-one can find them? There are so many twists and turns and I want to rave about them all, but this book deserves to be read with no spoilers. It is simply brilliant. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this title in return for an honest review.

Terrific book until the end
I so enjoyed reading this book until the finale which was too pat and a real let down after such a terrific start - therefore I cannot recommend the book

Ticks the suspense boxes.....
I recommend this book.....i read it over a couple of weekend days....and though not usually a reader of this genre, found it hard to put down. The two main characters are well described and the two plot-lines nicely intertwine. The plot twists are mostly believable and some towards the end caught me quite by surprise.Nice exploration of how far one would go to wipe the slate clean from a life that is falling apart.

Really good.
Clare is escaping her husband and looking to start a new life but a last minute plan changes all that until she meets Eva. Maybe they can help each other and both escape but what is Eva running from and what happens when a plane crashes. This was a really interesting story with such a clever premise. The story flits between Clare and Eva as we learn what led Eva to the airport that day. The plot builds slowly but keeps you reading. The ending is really well done if not quite how I wanted it to end. The writing is descriptive and detailed. I liked both Eva and Clare, they were good leads. A great story.

Far too much misandry…not all men are bad!
This book jumps on the hashtag me too movement, lumping most of the men in the story as bullies, spineless women haters and wife beaters. It is a twisty turns tale that keeps you reading but come on. The misandry is glaringly obvious throughout.

What a great read!
A great plot unfolds as the writer draws you in to a believable but dicey story. I am ready for more!

Favorite setup in a book this year
The setup could not be more alluring. “Must find out what happens!” Does level out about half way in though. Great female characters. Great writing. All in all a good read.
