Can midi data be sent over usb to the 6 thru outputs?

No you would need a usb host controller for that.

When is power required? this doesn't have a midi out so not sure the "when the output midi port is used more, you need to supply power" implies.thanks

MIDI Thru = MIDI Out. Six thru channels are basically transmitting the same information coming into the MIDI in. The more devices are hooked up to the six ports, the more likely you'll need external power.

Can i send data from my daw sequencer, multiple sequencer channels with their own channels into the in and going out to multiple instruments ?

You cannot send midi thru usb. So you need to have another interface that translates the midi from ur daw to 5pin.
