can 2 of them be deployed in tandem for an 8" duct?

Yes, I’m sure that they could. They open completely up and should be able to be linked together just like most hose clamps. I’m using all of mine on 4 inch hoses now or I’d try it for you, but I’m pretty sure it will work.

I think I've overtightened the fastener and need to get a new or better one. What's max torque allowance recommended?

I don't know what the max torque is but I know I've exceeded it several times. I really do not like these. I switched to the kind you tighten with a screwdriver and I find them to be much much better.

Where are these clamps manufactured?

I don't know for sure, but probably China, like everything else these days. I will say they are pretty good clamps and I haven't had any problem with cranking on them with sufficient force.

How much weight does a hose clamp support?

I have used them as part of a dust collection system where they are not supporting anything more than 5 or 6 feet of 4” hose.
