Not VTech Original
The camera we received came in a brown box with no cables or instruction guides. After powered up, it failed to operate properly - each menu selection was excessively slow and the games dragged and button input didn't register immediately. We have owned several other VTech devices including a camera without any of these problems. I would recommend that you do not purchase a camera from this vendor.

Great to entertain kids, but not much else
This camera, like apparently all other kids cameras, is simply a 15 year old webcam wrapped up in a "camera-like" body. The image quality is absolutely atrocious. I know some might say "But it's just a kid's camera, it doesn't matter!" But as a photographer, I think that these things matter, at least a little. Without a Lot of light, you get either black or super mushy images that are highly subject to camera shake. And if the camera shakes at all, there is terrible rolling shutter jelly effect in the images. In Very good light, you can get things that look like pictures. There isn't a great excuse for this in the current day and age. Just putting the cheapest smart phone camera sensor in here would have produced infinitely better results. The camera module in this unit would cost VTech less than $1 a piece. Whereas a cheap smartphone camera module with massively improved image quality would cost them about $5 a piece. For build quality, although it appears that a lot of thought went into it, there's a glaring flaw that many others have noted: as soon as it's dropped, all the batteries fly out. Did they not even hand this to a child before sending it to market?Additionally, all the games and things would be better left out entirely. Giving a child a camera is a whole other level of expectation of creation and activity than handing them a gamepad, and it would be nice if they weren't the same device.

Great gift - choose frustration free packaging !
I read some of the reviews which were not all positive but I have to say I like this item for my 3 year old son. It was easy for him to pick up in terms of use and picture playback. It requires 4 x AA batteries but it lasts for a long time (and I put in rechargeables). The only thing is that children get trigger happy so the card fills up quickly, in which case you can quickly delete. We have not explored all of the functions as there are frames and games and video but for the picture taking part, no complaints- its a great gift. I chose the "frustration free" packaging which was great to open in terms of speed and possible returns or for opening to insert batteries if you're Gifting to others...always nice to put the batteries in there so kids can use right away.Hope that helps. My son loves it.

Awesome kids camera!
Awesome little camera! I bought this for my sons third birthday because he kept stealing cell phones to take pictures. He absolutely loves this camera! The picture quality isn’t amazing being a kids camera but it has a bunch of cool functions. Self timer, frames, video and games!! Plus more!! I highly recommend this toy. Very durable also. takes 4 AA batteries.

Great starter camera for kids except for the games
My 5 year old loves taking photos with this camera - the little “filters” that can be added as scenes to the photos are a great touch. I only wish it didn’t have an option to play games on it. Kids have enough electronics to play on, they don’t need them on everything. Waste of the battery life too. Also for some reason ours did not come with the wrist strap so we’ll have to make one.

Great except for games
Love the camera overall but the games are a distraction and not needed. Once they were discovered it took away from the use of the camera for photos. I would have preferred a simple, functional camera.
