Hard to use, doesnt chop vegetables as I expected for soups. Would have mailed back but lost purchase paperwork.

I have only used my slicer a couple of times to make homemade pickles. I used it to slice cucumbers. I'm very pleased with how they turned out. The only thing that would make it better is if the black part that is used to hold the veggies would work better. It didn't hold the cucumbers very well.

And when used as instructed, this gadget is even safer than a conventional kitchen knife. Now I have owned a mandolin in the past. And there can be a very big difference between them. But usually it is the sharpness of the blade that makes the biggest difference between different models.Now let's take a look at this particular Mandolin slicer sold by Ubesto.First I must warn you these blades are extremely sharp! Be very Careful when you take these out of the packaging and I would recommend using a pair of knife proof gloves when using a mandolin. You can take a really big slice out of your finger on these if you are not careful.Don't touch the tip of the blade at all with your fingers. Be careful to take your time and watch what you are doing when using a Mandolin. There is a hand guard for a reason- use it if you are smart.This particular model comes with five different inserts that slice & julienne. I like that this is made with a food-safe ABS plastic. This has some really nice no-slip rubber bottom that helps to keep the unit in place while you are slicing up your food. This also comes with 2 very nice silicone chopping mats. That was a nice surprise I wasn't expecting. Good detailed instructions are included that help you understand how to use the mandolin properly. Has a very nice protective holder to grip your vegetable or fruit with, to slide it across the blades. Like that the instructions give the user some tips on how to store the blades. Not everyone thinks first about those things. Now this thing can slice! Very smooth operation and it sliced right thru anything I put in it. This is a very good slicer! I would recommend it in a heart beat and it also comes with it's own storing case. I am all set for a summer of salad making in my outdoor kitchen and will use this allot.
