Works Great!
Works great. A must have when changing plugs on the Ford 5.4L. I used it to change the plugs on my 2004 Ford F150. Due to the design of some of the year models of this engine, 2004 - 2007 ( maybe some newer ) the spark plugs may break off in the cylinder head. I actually broke 5. Don't panic. Purchase the Lisle plug remover tool, it will save the day.

Buy it
Was skeptical because of how notorious Ford 5.4 spark plugs are. The engine I used this tool on had not been properly serviced by the current owner and was at 150k miles on OEM plugs. I could have sworn I'd be using the plug removal kit but my fears slowly faded away as I removed plug after plug with no issue. As a caveat, a week prior to the job I had the owner dump a can of seafoam in her tank before each top off as well as during service I let the engine cool and i removed the boots and soaked each plug in penetrating lube. Was it the tool alone that performed well or a combination of the other precautions I took? I assume the latter, but I definitely will be using this tool on any further 5.4 plug work I do. Held up well with my electric impact as well for removal.

Wouldn't recommend this item to anyone
The item snapped off at the ball that allows it to flex. The socket was left in the cylinder head. It wound up partially stripping the hex on the spark plug and now I haven't been able to remove that plug because every socket I put on it, winds up spinning since this happened. Wouldn't recommend this item to anyone. I really hadn't applied that much pressure when it snapped. I wound up buying the OTC spark plug removal kit and that worked like a charm.

RECOMMENDED... BUT perhaps not necessary...
Makes the job EASIER, but not impossible without it. #1- The construction could be better. Some have said the magnet breaks off after short time. I think they actually mean it slides off. When this happens, the roll pin holding the swivel mechanism comes apart. (expletive!) Deep breath... SO.. simple fix is to wrap some electrical tape around the tool where the magnet is. I would recommend you do this before using it. Save yourself a surprise. What the company needed to do was use a larger roll pin that would hold tighter. #2- The swivel mechanism is nice. I was doing the plugs on a 2005 Ford 5.4 Triton. There's sufficient room to get the plugs out if you remove the cold air intake/filter housing, coolant lines, get some of the electrical connections unplugged, etc etc. If your space is tight, the tool offers a little more flex.#3- Best feature is the magnet, (yeh, the same one that will fall off if you don't tape it), It holds the plug fairly secure with the help of the rubber grommet inside. Now this doesn't hold the plug like those plug sockets of old, when you had to practically use a vise to get them out. But it is plenty secure. All said, I would recommend it. the OTC tool doesn't have the swivel. But it does have the knurled portion, which I found would have been very useful when you're just using your fingers to tighten/untighten. If you're changing plugs on the old Triton 5.4 engine, GOOD LUCK! Check out my review of the Lisle plug removal tool under that product.

Excellent tool
I bought several 9/16 spark plug tools in preparation for replacing my late model 2008 Lincoln Navigator plugs (with Motorcraft SP 509). This was clearly the best of all tools. It has a nice swivel that will not detach in the deep spark plug sleeve. After getting the plugs completely loose (I recommend Kano Aerokroil to penetrate the plug threads after 1/8 turn), the magnet on the tool will allow you to lift the plugs out. Had I used another tool that didn't have the permanent attached swivel, I can easily foresee the spark plug socket disconnecting from the extension and thus having to try to get the socket out of the sleeve with a long nose pliers. That might be fine for the forward holes but I wouldn't want to be doing that for the rear holes under the firewall. There's very little room to work with and you can't see into the sleeve at all. Also, the swivel comes in handy working behind the firewall and around hoses and wires where you are trying to get a ratchet on the tool extension. You will be glad you bought this when you are doing this job.

BUY THIS!
I decided to do the dreaded plug and coil change on my F150. I was very fortunate that I did not break a single plug by taking my time and following all of the tips you see online, but this was by far the best purchase I made. I hardly had to move anything within my engine because I used this with an extension attachment. I cannot stress enough that if you are doing this project, that this is the correct tool for the job. From the magnet, to the swivel, each element is needed. This probably saved me a couple hours of time when it was all said and done. If you are changing your own plugs, BUY THIS TOOL. It doesn't matter if you have the socket that is the correct size, this is perfect and the swivel feature allows for continuous attachment.

Worked great for my 2006 Ford F150 5.4!
I bought two 9/16" spark plug removal sockets with built in extensions for my plug and cop job on my truck. I was super nervous about the job due to all the trouble people have had with the oem spark plugs breaking, etc. I opened both sockets, but I stayed with this one as it worked great! I tried the other one(fixed, non-swivel) only on one plug, but went back to this as the built in swivel just made life easier. This, combined with a variety of socket extensions and a 3' torque wrench set to 25 lbs and a bit of prep work (seaform in 2 tanks of 100% 93 octane gas, and the sea foam throttle body cleaner process) and I only had to extract 1 broken plug, and fortunately it was near the front so not really a difficult job at all.I highly recommend this socket based on my experience. Good luck!

Worked good until it broke.
The item worked great up until it broke. Only after 4 plugs the extension part broke off the socket part. Leaving it unusable.

Great buy
Changed the plugs on a 2006 f150 5.4l Triton engine. Worked great!! Original plugs are 9/16” replacement are 5/8”. Bought the extractor to pull out broken plugs, also from Amazon, also worked great!! Critical with this motor.

Great for the DIY-er
Used this to do the plugs on my '05 Expedition. It made the job pretty easy. Not sure if I'd recommend it for a professional who is doing the job every day, but if you're doing plugs once in a blue moon, this works perfectly.

Junk. Do not purchase.
Tool is useless. Hole inside socket is too small for any spark plug. Basically a paperweight that looks like a socket. Purchased this back in July but just recently attempted to use it to be yet again surprised with the saying "you get what you pay for." I should have purchased a socket with a brand you can depend on.

Well...
Got it for my 2008 f150 5.4 l. It fits some plugs and some plugs it doesn't. I actually needed it for the old one but needed a different one to put the new one in. The hole is small, won't fit all plugs.
