I was skeptical if this was worth it over a hammer and punch. 100% worth it. Spring loaded center keeps it centered and makes it easy to drive on the perfect amount. I would recommend it.

This product work great. No problems getting the sight lined up and installed. To install sight without this tool would be a lot harder to do.

Unlike their M-1 Front Sight Removal Tool which they can produce in a special version to exactly match if thee brand of M-1 Carbine you own happens to be a Universal, Matrix' says their M-1 Front Sight Install Tool will fit and work with all M-1 Carbines including my Universal. Unfortunately, that is not exactly true. Maybe it's just my particular Universal, but the front sight tool I received would not fit over the front sight assembly and the barrel until after I machined it a bit myself with a file and my Dremel with a drum sanding attachment. It wasn't too hard to do and I eventually got it to fit after which I was able to quickly reinstall and properly align my front sight assembly. So, even if you happen to own a Universal M-1, this is still a handy device to have if your replacing your front sight or barrel band. Because if you are skilled enough to be messing with that sort of work, you probably have the skills to modify this tool to fit if it doesn't do so right out of the box.
