not worth it
Not worth it. It just beeps and doesn't charge. Don't waste your money! Better to buy one type of rechargeable battery, perhaps even one brand, and stick with their charger. This thing is a turd.

Lightweight and functional
I bought this unit with the idea of carrying one battery charger while on an extended hiking trip. I plan on using a solar panel (Sunlinq 6.5W) as the 12V power source. The charger nicely charges NiMH AA and AAA cells either from the wall or from the solar panel. Equally true with my Li-ion D-LI8 battery. The universality of it just paid off when I upgraded my digital camera which uses a D-LI78 battery. Although not listed as a supported battery, the tech rep says it will work and it does. You insert it as you would the D-LI8, but "upside down" so the positive terminal is to the left, where the negative terminal normally is. You end up contacting different pins with work just fine.Since I was also weight conscience, there are the measurements:- base unit is 2.7oz/79g- AA/AAA adapter plate is 1.1oz/31g- Li-ion adapter plate is 1.1oz/31g- AC power adapter is 10.5oz/298g and only works with 110/120V AC ;(Hopefully I can find a more lighter weight AC power adapter which supports 110/220V 60/50Hz for when I travel internationally. There is a similar product made by Everready/Fameart, but it appears to be only available in the UK. I also found a Powerex/Maha MH-C777[II][plus] but it appears to use a magnet to hold the contact pins in place; not something I want near my SD memory cards if I can help it.
