Ideal for crafters starting needle punch
As someone who knits, crochets, and embroiders, I have a LOT of yarn laying around. I wanted to start needle punching but didn't want to shell out for an Oxford needle. Based on the reviews I wasn't expecting much from the product, but it did exactly what I needed it for. Sure, the wood handle was a bit unfinished, but thats easy enough to fix (I'd rather do it myself than pay Oxford 40 something dollars to do it for me!) and I've had no issues with anything breaking. No idea how people are doing that as I'm 1.5 projects in and I'm not careful at all. Still, for the wooden needle, I bet some glue would be a handy enough remedy.I've stuck with using the wooden handled needle mostly, as I felt the adjustable needle was just a bit too wide for the cloth. My projects are fairly small (3"x3") so for a larger piece I'm sure it'd be fine. I also have used all sorts of yarn weights/textures and have only run into problems with a light/fingering yarn thats quite elastic. This was expected. The yarn stinks, which is why I'm trying to use it up lol It's still doable/usable but takes some finessing. I can't imagine much you couldn't do with this set, but I am only a beginner.Overall, it's a great starter set for the money. If you do ZERO crafts, this might not be for you. Probably go get a project kit that would have instructions or a pattern and embroidery hoop. If you're a seasoned fiber artist, this'll do the trick.

Great for punching rugs.
Very easy to use. I found it difficult to tighten the screw that held in the needle. I had to use a tool to tighten and that was the magic. No issues since. Works well.

Decent For The Price: Not an Oxford Needle
This punch needle works fine, especially for the price. However, don't use it to judge this type of punch tool compared to an Oxford Punch Needle. The Oxford punch is heavier, sturdier, and the shaft is more more smoothly machined. I would say this is a good tool if you are just trying out punch needle and don't want to make a heavy investment on tools until you know if you will like punching or not.

Poor quality.
I am giving this a 1 star. the quality control with this was poor. I ended up purchasing the Oxford needle way better quality and I am not having the issues I had with this one. I am taking an online class on Hook Latch rugs the instructor recommended the Oxford but it's a bit pricy. so I went with Wool Queen 10# which comparing the 2 the Oxford is better quality and the needle is longer and thinner than this one. I know the needle is visible in the shaft but it is glued in. I thought if I could pull it out with pliers I might be able to use it. also the wood that you feed the yarn through is very rough and had splinters which also snagged the yarn and caused problems. I could not get the thread to stay in the fabric once I punched it through the material, it would pull right out and leave a big hole. I started comparing the Wool Queen needle to the online picture of the Oxford needle and realized the actual needle is at least 1/2 inch shorter and a little wider than the Oxford. I missed my window to return the Wool Queen needle, and I ended up spending a lot more money for the Oxford tool but well worth it! The frustration I had from using the Wool Queen needle just about caused me to give up on this craft and my class.

As good as the Oxford, imo
I really really like these. Sadly, my foster puppy also liked them, and got to both and turned them to veritable toothpicks. Ugh! That said, while I did have them intact, I really liked how easy they were to thread and how smoothly the needle poked through the fabric. They seemed super sturdy too. Highly recommend; just remember to store out of reach of puppies.

Not well made
Immediately out of the box I noticed that the wood was rough. Looking at the holes for the yarn there's no way for yarn to move smoothly through the #10. Just horribly put together all around. The #8 was smoother but in the "tunnel" or whatever you want to call it is still rough and yarn will snag as I try to work. I'm really disappointed as I have projects I need to get done and now I'll have to wait even longer to get them finished. I live on an island in the sticks so often Amazon is my only choice and I'm just disappointed these are such poor quality.

Fun to use
I have used those little punch needle embroidery kits before, but this is my first experience with a big punch needle. I had a lot of fun with it and it was very similar to the small embroidery one. It seems sturdy and well made. I'm not finished with my rug yet, but it looks great .

Good Value
This product is less than half the price of its American competitor. I put a coat of boiled linseed oil on the Beech wood handle and it is lovely. Considering it is $50 less than its competitor - an excellent buy!

good needle for the money
I am accustomed to using the Oxford punch needle and this Wool Queen needle is almost comparable for less money. You can tell that it is not as well made as the Oxford, but it does do a good job and would be perfect for those who can't afford the more expensive Oxford.
