Question 1

I want to use a keyboard and mouse to play FPS games on my Nintendo Switch — will this adapter work?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the KX adapter converts keyboard and mouse USB input to controller signals for Nintendo Switch (original), PS4, and PS3. It is NOT compatible with Nintendo Switch 2. Plug in your keyboard and mouse to the adapter's USB ports.

Question 2

Does this adapter support Nintendo Switch 2, or only the original Nintendo Switch?

Accepted Answer

This adapter is NOT compatible with Nintendo Switch 2. It supports the original Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS3 only. For Switch 2 keyboard and mouse support, a separate Switch 2-compatible adapter is required.

Question 3

Will I get an advantage using a keyboard and mouse, or does the game treat my inputs like a controller?

Accepted Answer

The KX adapter converts keyboard and mouse input to simulate controller signals. Games receive the input as a standard controller, so mouse aiming speed is translated to analog stick movement within the game's own sensitivity settings.

Question 4

Can I use a wireless keyboard and mouse?

Accepted Answer

Only one wireless receiver can be connected. You can use a wired keyboard with a wired mouse, or one wireless device with one wired device, but not a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse together.

Question 5

Does this adapter work for all game genres, or only specific types like FPS games?

Accepted Answer

The KX adapter works across all game genres that use standard controller inputs. It maps keyboard keys and mouse movement to controller buttons and analog sticks, making it usable for FPS, racing, RPG, and other genres.

Question 6

My PS4 does not respond. What am I doing wrong?

Accepted Answer

Make sure the controller is POWERED OFF before you plug it in, use a charging and data sync cable rather than a charge-only cable, connect the controller to the adapter first, then plug the adapter into the console. A blue LED means it worked.

Question 7

Does this work on PS5?

Accepted Answer

No.

Question 8

Can I use it with the Switch in handheld mode?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Use the included OTG Type-C adapter to connect the KX directly to the console, and make sure 'Pro Controller Wired Communication' is turned on in System Settings.
