Authentic Foods Potato Starch - 3 lb

Potato starch is a common staple of gluten free baking. I use it frequently and this one has a fine texture and works well in baking. It can also be used as a thickener but I mostly bake with it. It is tasteless and has a soft consistency that is similar to cornstarch.

Love all products by Authentic Foods. No gritty taste, consistently excellent quality. WARNING: Unfortunately, Amazon continues to package the Authentic Food flours in the same box with sharp edged products resulting in punctured AF bags. This time it was even worse....packaged in the same box as a pesticide! I've learned my lesson...no more orders where a potential contamination or damage can occur by incorrectly packaged items. Inexcusable Amazon...sheer laziness.

BLUF: I got much more PS from Authentic Foods for the price than the leading competing brand. Very happy with this purchase. It's a great, value buy. I actually bought both this and a 1 lb bag of Bob's Red Mill potato starch, and both have the same high quality, finely ground texture. Mixes easily with my powered mini mixer (also reviewed).

I like that's it's avaiable but wish it were less expensive as potatoes are fairly cheap!

Finally, a brand that doesn't cause an allergic reaction.

The potato starch is a staple in Gluten Free cooking for me. The product is as advertised, fine texture not grainy. Minus 1 star - the opening of the bag is difficult to fit measuring cups larger than 1/4 cup. Also the bag ziplock is strong but not airtight- and therefore not pest tight. If packaging were improved, I would rate at 5 stars. This is a tad expensive as I coukd find it cheaper in stores in the continental states. But since where I currently live I cannot buy it in stores, this is the best option to order online that I could find, re value for price per pound.
