Fun Projects For Kids and Adults
We purchased several of these books for friends with kids and grandkids. The books are great for projects that adults and kids can do together. They are fun and interesting while incorporating the STEAM concepts of learning. The book is well laid out and gives instructions and hints for adults that can make the projects more enjoyable for kids of varying ages. The book is of course geared to gardening but contains other interesting projects other than plant growing (ie: "The Incredible Leveling Tube and the "Stained Glass Bird Feeder") that are applicable to any home. We would highly recommend this book. It should give adults and kids hours of enjoyment while learning about plants and gardening.

Science
Even though this is listed as a gardening book, it is more like a science in the garden book. But the person for whom I chose it is a teenager, and needs more than just a gardening book anyway. I'm hoping this will help her enjoy the summer.

Awesome
I'm a fan of this book; I gave it to my kids for Christmas but I'm the one who is reading it and making some really fun homeschooling plans for when we get our garden planted in the spring. I like that there are still activities you can do regardless of the weather. For example, I believe it is the first activity where you can test if your soil is acidic, alkaline or neutral. It's such a simple test and fun/easy activity that even my youngest will enjoy. We are currently doing a seed sprouting project and can't wait to try out the food scrap sprouting. I'll be sticking with the low "dirt-o-meter" activities as my oldest is in 1st grade and I can't put a lot of time into the other projects just yet. However, this will be a great book to grow with us as we experiment more in our garden. I'm actually really excited about this. I think I could have done without the chapter for the parents, it just seemed forced and unnecessary. Other than that, this is a practical learning resource!

Great ideas for science study at home
Loved this book. Using it for homeschool Kindergarten due to Covid. 5 year old granddaughter is very enthused about gardening this spring. The soil test experiment was a big hit.

One of the best kids gardening books I've found
Although this won't teach you "how to garden", which I think is something you need to ultimately experiment with on your own, it does have tons of cool projects and ideas pertaining to gardening to do with the kids. Five stars! ☆☆☆☆☆I would love to see this author write a book about desert gardening with the kids! Our just a desert gardening book in general since i learned she too lives in the desert. Hint hint!!

A must have book for anyone interested in doing science or gardening with kids
This book is packed full of useful information and great projects! I'm already planning how I might use it in partnership with our local community garden to start a kids gardening club. Some of my favorite things:Organization- I love the chart at the beginning of the book where you can quickly find projects that best suit your needs. Have to work indoors today? Or at a local park? It's easy to find a lesson that fits those requirements. Also the book itself is organized by stages of gardening. With things like learning about soil at the beginning, and enjoying your produce at the end.Flexibility- I'm a homeschool mom and a science teacher. I love that I can use the projects and information for my own kids or with a big class setting. The additional group project ideas are truly inspired!Great information- this book is simply packed with information. From picking the best plants to how to prep your soil. Its a solid beginners gardening book and then it adds in all the STEAM connections and ideas to expand the projects for further study and group work on top of that. I've been gardening my whole life, but was still surprised by all the connections: stuff I knew would would never have thought to make into a lesson. It's brilliant. This is a solid book that I am sure I will use in its entirety and then use again. It's not a big book but it is packed with goodies.I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review but I've already purchased more to give as gifts.

Gardening for families with a focus on STEAM
Terrific gardening book for the whole family with focus on application in all the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Technology (STEAM) areas. Brandy Stone provides introductory material to adult care-givers laying out the goal of fun and learning and describing the presentation format for the activities. All projects can be done with materials that are readily available and do not have to be expensive. Instructions are complete and include a dirt-o-meter scale, separate materials list, and ways to connect the activity to at least one of the STEAM fields. Great tool for parents, grandparents, preschool-elementary school teachers and more. The book can be used by elementary and middle grade students on their own, but family use would be beneficial to every member of the group and most activities can be done with preschool aged children as well.
