Puffin Classics Five Children and It

Be careful what you wish for!
Having just taken part in a play about Edith Nesbit's 'darker' work, I decided to try this title, which was mentioned in the dialogue. My character in the play says he is 'unnerved by the creature the children find, the eponymous It'. As an adult, I found the book really quite enjoyable, and would certainly recommend it for children of - say - 9 years or more. There are some important life lessons they might learn, as well as enjoying the various chapter stories, in which the childrens' wishes - as granted by the 'sand fairy' - usually go wrong!

A children's classic. Such a lovely story and still fresh even after all these years.

A wonderful story
I watched the bbc series of this when I was younger. It is a joy to read the book and relive the story.

What a great book, so humorous
What a great book, so humorous. Every child should read this. The story about the children wishing to be 'as beautiful as the day' is just so funny along with all the others. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
