Fantastic introduction to the periodic table
Bought this for my 7yr old but we’re all enjoying reading it. Hubby & myself were never really interested in science but I firmly believe it’s down to how it’s presented, and this is how it should be! The elements are grouped by colour and represented by delightful characters. Even my 4yr old is loving the illustrations and actually learning lots too. The 7yr old cant put it down!A brilliant book to have on the shelf (ours hasn’t gotten near a shelf yet!). Very straightforward and clearly explained. We love these books anyway but this is one of our favorites.

Who is this book for?!
It is not clear that this book is produced with a readership in mind. Children up to 12 may be amused by lifting flaps, but they won't understand much of what lies behind them, and children older that that are likely to find the whole book too childish. Also, it uses the conventional periodic table rather than one of the more attractive and interesting alternatives, and it perpetuates the myth that the world is made up of 118 elements, although more than 30 of those are artificial and last for only a short time - some of them only for a split second before they decay.

A book for baby Boffins
Bought this for my budding boffin 4 year old grand daughter, who loves it, she can sit with her mum and learn while having fun discovering all the little doors and windows and what lies behind them. The first thing she said to me was we are all made of the same things Nana and then told me about the fireworks in the book, so she has taken something on board straight away. Her mum loves it too and said she wished she'd had such a book when she was younger.A brilliant purchase, you can't go wrong with this book, great to spend a little time with the children brushing up on all that stuff you've forgotten over the years. Highly recommended!

What an amazing book, great for kids and adults
What do you get for your kids during lockdown, it's hard managing kids and working from home. I bought this book after seeing a recommendation and I'm really impressed.I dropped chemistry and physics at school and did biology, which I have always regretted so my knowledge of chemistry is OK but I missed out of the basics that you learn at school.I've sat down with my 7 year old daughter and worked through the book in chunks and we both learnt stuff and I supplemented the content of my book by showing her videos from the Internet of chemical reactions and people like Marie Curie and Alfred Nobel. I feel like she's had some great science lessons and we've enjoyed some quality time together. We are continuing to work our way through the book and I would highly recommend the book.

Mega brillant book
7 year old son has learned so much from this book. He first saw it at the school library and couldn't put it down. So I ordered one. At times we've had to go on holiday with it, on the train etc. He's now got this weird knowledge about characteristic of lots of elements I didn't even know existed!
