Performance Tool W89730 A/C Manifold Test Gauge Kit

I purchased this kit because reliable A/C service is as rare in Panama as good plumbers or electricians. It is well made, good packaging and does what it is supposed to do. Let's face it, A/C manifolds are not exactly rocket science. This one checks all the boxes and does what it is supposed to do quite well. The body is well made, with dummy connectors to keep the high and low pressure hoses clean and out of harm's way when not in use. The hoses are high quality silicon tubing and the connectors work just fine. No regrets.

Works just as stated. The unit was missing the nut that holds the hook on the unit, but I rigged something up for that, I think the package was returned, the box was taped back together, or maybe damaged packaging and the nut fell out. It's nice to have tools so a person can do the job right. Thank you.

Hoses could only be used once; they couldn't withstand the pressure.

Pros - Functional, with some work. - I do like that this has the metal connectors on the side of the manifold so you can connect the hoses to those and then run a vacuum on it to test that there are no leaks in the gauges/hoses before using. (It passed this test) Cons - The labels on the manifold are incorrect. The rotation directions are reversed, so that if you turn it in the direction that the label indicates should be closed, you are actually opening it. The labels on the hose ends are correct. - While this states that it is for R-134a, it requires an additional adapter to connect the supply hose to the fitting that goes on R-134a cans.

Good set of gauges but the only thing that I took star off for is on the vacuum side. The numbers are to smashed together to get an accurate reading.

This kit works as expected. Doesn't come with an Acme fitting, which may be needed if you want to add an in-line oil injector. Also doesn't come with a can tap, but that's ok, because cans and taps are for backyard hacks. I suggest not doing A/C if you don't have your refrigeration certification, or at least reading up heavily before tackling A/C work. A lot can go wrong. The kit actually came with a valve core tool, which isn't shown on the box illustration. After two uses, I'm happy with this product. It's affordable, so I sort of expect something to go wrong with it eventually.. An important point for me was that it has gauges that can be recalibrated if necessary, and has a port on the yellow hose side for venting air out of the lines, before recharging the refrigerant.

Works good for what I need. Gauges are definitely cheaper quality and are not the most durable but ac gauges are meant not to handled roughly. I've used them about a dozen times and haven't had any problems. Great buy for someone that would use them a few times a year but if you were a professional tech using them everyday I would definitely upgrade to better quality gauges.

The coupler for the low pressure side doesn't work (i.e., the little ball bearings that are supposed to go in when you pull up on the tab don't), therefore cannot connect to low pressure. High pressure connector coupler works just fine, but not much good without them both connected.

The gauges work well and did their job. I was unable to connect the centre hose to a 12a refrigerant. I would be interested in finding an adaptor to allow me to connect to 12a refrigerant...
