Adult Piano Adventures All-in-One Book 2: Spiral Bound

A brilliant follow up to Adult Piano Adventures Book 1
This really is an excellent book. I am slowly working my way through this, and I am finding it a challenge. But it really is worth the effort, as each time I complete a piece of music, I sound a bit more like a proper piano player, not a complete novice who has never had a piano lesson in his life (which is what I am!)Each new page either introduces a new piece of music theory, a new key signature, a new rhythm, or a piece of music that allows you to practice what you have just learned. It can take me about a week to get some of the music (Coffee House Boogie was particularly challenging), but when I do, I feel such a sense of accomplishment. Most of the music has both the left and right hand pieces scored, which is as you would expect. Some pieces have just the melody, and then write the blocked chords to play above the melody. This is then followed up with a second way of playing the left hand, which makes playing it even more interesting. My favourite piece I've played like this so far is Londenderry Air (also known as Oh Danny Boy). Only the verse was scored, but it sounded so lovely, I worked out how to play the chorus too, including the left hand part.It will take me ages to finish this book, but I don't care; I'm loving this adventure!

Excellent book, it is helping me enormously
This book is fantastic value for money - not only does it provide clear information, but it is complemented by YouTube videos to clarify key points and the music can downloaded, to play along to, as either MP3 or MIDI files at no extra cost! I play a Yamaha keyboard, so find the MIDI files really useful to load into the keyboard to demonstrate how the music should sound and, after a bit of practice, to play along with.

Works for me
I have enjoyed using Faber's adult course books, they have a nice steady learning curve with an interesting choice of music. But here's the thing, make sure to download the interactive app to go with it - it is free to download and works flawlessly with my Roland. I have tried all of the competition's learning apps and this for me is the best. It works hand in glove with the course book.

Great fun interactive learning for adult beginners
I am learning piano as an adult. Book 1 of this series was chosen by my piano teacher who has tried several different ones in the past. There is a lot of focus on little technique tips and quite a lot of the pieces are classical which I love. I have just moved on to book 2 and am still loving it. Pieces are on the short side so you learn a new technique or style and move on, but I have certainly been motivated enough to keep going and make time to practise. It also comes with the cds in the back for you to listen to. The cds repeat each piece twice, once slow and once normal speed (which for me can be quite fast) Really would recommend this for adult beginners.
