Women's Melissa Satchel

GORGEOUS If you are a Frye fan and like a rugged, distressed bag and don't need a lot of compartments, you will like this bag. I lusted over this bag in Ice for years after spotting a lady carrying one through the airport. I have several pairs of Frye boots, but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to pay the cost on this bag. Finally did it a few months ago. I. Love. It. The color is gorgeous, and it's getting 'beaten up' nicely. There are no pockets other than the ones on the wall of the satchel, they are fairy flat and small slide-in style with one larger zip pocket. I don't carry a lot of small, loose stuff in my bag, so it works. If you're someone who does, or wants things very organized, you'll probably hate it. The quality is, of course, excellent. Thick, heavy, beautiful leather that feels and smells amazing. Good gusseting, so that the bag retains its shape when you set it down. Roomy interior, well made adjustable and removable strap. Handles will fall flat to the purse if using the strap. This bag will last for a decade or more if you take care of it, and it'll look great doing it. If this is your style, don't hesitate to invest in one of these bags.

Finally third time of ordering this Frye Melissa zippered satchel .Over two and n a half year time frame. This one I will be keeping. Real leather factory wrapped. No scratches. Looks just like the one in the store. First two I ordered looked like shiney cheap leather not properly wrapped. Had scrathes. Only complaint is the dust/ storage bag is not big enough to cover the entire satchel. For this kind of money we deserve a storage bag that fits the entire purse. Without having to smuch the satchel to get it in. I will be contacting the seller. I love the size of this purse. It can fit my 13 in tablet my fry wallet and all of my other things I carry. Plus more. I love that it comes with a strap so I can carry it cross body style. I'm very very pleased with this purse. I've dreamed of owning this purse since they came out several years ago. And I got it on sale which allowed for me to order the wallet. So now I have both the satchel and wallet.

I had this bag in my cart for months. One day I decided life is short, but the bag. I love this bag. The strap is super long to wear as a crossbody bag. This is coming from a plus side larger chested woman. Can you put a lot in this bag? Yes. Should you? No. It will get heavy. It’s a beautiful color and I always get compliments when I use it. Life is short, buy the bag.

All....I don't typically write reviews even though I read them quit frequently to make decisions on products. I have had this bag on my wish list for about a year and every time I would go to order the price would prevent me from moving forward, let's face it...this is a lot to spend on a bag. Well I finally pulled the trigger....and boy was it worth it!! I wish I had gotten it sooner. The color is beautiful (not to dark not to light), I got the dark brown and I LOVE it. So well made, so classic... good for work or casual. Also, my laptop for work fits so I only have to carry ONE bag which is great. Mine also did not come with the Frye logo hanging on the handle but I don't really care about that as I usually remove them (they irritate me) Great shoulder strap for cross body use and just an overall amazing bag, good feeling in the hand, high quality, beautiful leather. So worth the money!! Saving for the wallet that matches now. Do it....do it.....it's worth it.

Nice purse but too big for me.

Just received my new Frye Melissa Satchel in Ice, and it was love at first sight, touch and smell. This is the perfect bag for me that I've been seeking for a long time. It is so hard these days to find a leather bag that actually looks, feels and smells like good quality leather. I hate Saffiano leather, because it is so thick and rough and no longer resembles leather after it has been so heavily treated. Ice happened to be the color I was looking for, and it was an added bonus that this color was over $100 less expensive than the other colors. Also, though the leather is smooth and soft to the touch, it is very solid and sturdy. For me it is the perfect size, holding all my daily essentials comfortably. My iPad fits easily in it, but my laptop does not. So if this is an issue for you, this may not be your best choice. Another reviewer expressed disappointment that there was no dust bag. But, mine came with a really nice dust bag., It is a thick, soft, cotton flannel that would hold up well in the washer and dryer if needed. Great purchase! Highly recommend. Thanks Amazon!

If you want a product that wears like iron and will last you a lifetime, buy a Frye. I purchased this bag in Cognac last year just before Christmas at a great sale price. The first one came without a strap so I had to send it back and re-order. It might be somewhat heavy to some but it's high quality leather. This bag will be your Holy grail handbag. I would take this bag over any expensive high end over priced bag any day. It has a rugged, organic look to it. I love it! I took it to my local shoe repair shop when I first got it and he gave me a product to put on it. It's a acrylic refinisher. Almost like a glaze and it protects the leather and gives it a very light subtle shine and helps protect against scratches which this bag is prone to get. Always protect your leather ladies!! I also have the Frye knee high harness boots in dark brown and I'm thinking of purchasing the Melissa riding boots in Cognac.

I love this bag mainly because of the color (chestnut) and I am a sucker for a satchel bag! This is my first Frye purchase and I like everything about this bag except it no longer comes with the Frye logo tag (fob). When I read some of the reviews, some people said their bag came with the fob and others said their's did not. I crossed my fingers but sadly, mine did not. After doing some research, it seems as though Frye no longer is adding the Fob to the purses and the ones that do have it are the older purses. My local Dillards has this purse with the fob but they are selling it for $100 more than I paid for the same one online. I like the fob but not enough to pay $100 more for it. Originally, I thought the ones without the fob were counterfeit; However, if you go to the Frye website, they say that the purse does not come with a fob and there is no way to purchase the fob separately. This is the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Every high end purse has an exterior logo tag and this is the first purse I have owned that does not and it's sort of a buzzkill.

Fantastic and the most beautiful quality leather. I was not disappointed when I purchased this bag as it is such a beautiful design and exudes quality. It also has an extra handle to wear as a cross-over bag. Great purchase!

This is my fourth Frye bag and I’ve never been disappointed. I received this bag factory wrapped, which I love because I enjoy the unwrapping experience, especially when I’ve paid a pretty penny. Honestly though, I think Frye bags are worth far more than their selling price. Two of mine, I’ve had for almost fifteen years with no sign of them falling apart. The leather still has sheen to it. They are still beautiful and get compliments. ANYWAY, this bag is lovely. It’s very sturdy and roomy. The leather is ultra thick and smooth. It is on the heavier side, but makes sense once you see and feel the leather and hard wear up close. It is way more impressive in person. UPDATE: As much as I love it, I have to share that the one I received was sprayed with something that irritated my nose and eyes. First I smelled the leather but after a while I realized I’m smelling chemicals. I had to wipe this bag down, with water, about 10 times, leave it outside, when it was inside I kept my fan on it. It helped a lot but it was concerning. I read that they treat leather bags, with chemicals, to keep away bugs and prevent decay and mold that can happening in transport or wear houses.

I have been watching this Frye bag for some time and the price dropped so I ordered it and am very happy with purchase. Like others wrote, it is a heavy leather bag, but to be expected with Frye. The workmanship is superb, leather is beautiful, and for me at 5’8” it is not too big or too small in size. The dark brown is a great colour. I am thrilled with this handbag.

I was looking for something smaller than a tote but larger than a crossbody and this satchel is perfect. I can fit my tea and even my lunch and still have plenty of room. Gorgeous soft leather and beautifully made. Very happy.
