I had never heard of Amish Origins, but my friend highly recommended it to me. She said it's the best and the only thing she uses. I recently purchased it and have been using it on my injured shoulder and lower back/upper back and neck at night before going to sleep. The formula is a white petrolatum based, so a little goes a long way. I massaged it in as best as I could since it is greasy. I tell you, I wasn't confident when starting out the first night, I thought it would be like all the others. But I am now a fan. I'm not sure, but I think it has something to do with the formula being petrolatum base that makes it last on your skin. The ingredients seemed to help me all night through and I didn't wake up achy like I usually do. After using this product several times, I am sold. I love this product. It works better than anything else I've tried. I will say though, you must massage it in as best as you can because it can leave oily stains on your pillow if you're doing shoulders/upper back or neck. Still, it is well worth the relief you get. It does have a scent, so if you're self-conscious, you may only want to use it in the privacy of your home. I highly recommend Amish Origins original formula.

For years my husband had complained of knee pain - arthritis - and although we tried various products and methods, Amish Origins was the most effective in relieving his pain. I applied it to his knees daily.It was so effective on him that I began to use it on my own knee, to help a problem I've had since I was 10. I find that I have to reapply after a few hours but that's okay because during that time the pain is considerably reduced.And just the other day the painter commented about sore back muscles following hours of working on the stairway ceiling prep. The results lasted most of the day for him. We were both impressed.The product's ingredients seem to combine synergistically to be quite effective, albeit aromatic...which is why it can also be used for colds and congestion.As a matter of fact I was just looking for sites with Amish Origins so that I could send information about the ointment to a friend who bemoaned that fact that nothing helped her arthritis joint pain. It was then that I pulled up this Amazon page. I'll be sending this link to her.There are no claims now that this product was made by any other company than Amish Origins although that company name has only been in existence since 2010. Despite the Amish Origins-Unker's feud, their products are not the same formulation.I purchased our jar at a local health products store and the price on Amazon is comparable and very reasonable. Good product, good results, good price.July 2013I've now used both Amish Origins and Unker's, I understand the feud and appreciate its implications but this is a better product...at least for my needs.

Would be great for colds and congestion. The scent is pretty strong so maybe not great to use for sore muscles if you plan on going out. I use it at night for RLS and can feel it working after a bit. The consistency is almost like a petroleum jelly so it feels greasy & doesn't absorb into the skin. If that doesn't bother you then I would recommend it because it does work well.

I have RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) and I've tried many ointments on the market that is supposed to help but, this one is by FAR the best I've ever used! I use it first thing in the morning after my hot shower (if anyone out there has RA or even Arthritis), they'll know what I'm talking about) to relieve the stiffness in my joints. Afterwards, I always rub Amish Origins Deep Penetrating Pain Relief Ointment on my shoulders, upper arms, knees, just about everywhere I have stiff swollen joints. I'm not kidding, it starts working instantly! I've never in my life ever felt such immediate relief. I hope this ointment is around for many years, I can't live without it. If I could give it more than a 5 star rating, I would. Try it and see for yourself. This is the first review I've ever written as far as this kind of product goes but, I just had to tell everyone how great it is!!

Deceiving in the size of the container picture. Pay attention to the product size, only 3.5oz of cream. Does seem to provide some pain relief.
