My wife bought this for one of our last backpacking trips. We ended up catching a handful of fish with it in mountain lakes.The poles slight down into itself, and it is very compact. We set it all up and kept the reel attached but just packed the poles down when moving. It fits in a side pocket with no issues.My only "gripe" is that when you cast out and want to snap the reel shut, it sometimes takes some force on the reel handle to snap it shut. I'm by no means a super experienced fisherman- I have mostly done ocean surf and deep sea fishing with rods and reels that my family had- but I noticed it felt hard to snap it shut. Not a huge deal at all for something like this off of Amazon, so I don't consider it a con. But if you're a hardcore fisherman, you might notice it and should probably be looking at something more expensive. Or, you could just replace the reel on it I guess.Either way, this is a great rod and compact and portable, perfect for someone looking for a portable rig or going hiking or backpacking.

I needed this for a trip to fish at a nearby lake and it was perfect. The rod extends easily, feels solid and casts well. The reel feels like good quality it is smooth cranking and casting so for what I needed -- a rod / reel that would fit in a suitcase - this is perfect. I do wish the included pouch / sleeve would fit the rod with the reel on it but that is a very minor complaint and the only one I have. I had no issues at all with the rod collapsing as some have said, it extended easily and held up for my 3 day fishing trip it is perfect for what I needed it for and I will use it again I'mm sure..... No of course it's not the best you can buy but it fits in a small suitcase and for the price??? Id buy it again

Don’t expect anything crazy for a $50 combo but it’s really fun to throw in a backpack and hike around looking for ponds.

The advertisement is a little tricky, the showed a pair but ended send only one, they send the other one after my complain, I haven’t used they yet but quality and presentation looks amazing.

This rod has plenty of durability and proves as a great Frist time Pole. Obviously there are 500 - 5000 dollar pole but for the average Joe/Jane whole goes fishing here and there this is a great choice for bass, cat & fish. I'd recommend a lighter pole if your fishing smaller fish so you can feel the pull better. Overall good pole for a good price for a amateur.
