Bailey Loves It
My 16 year old blind Persian always has something wrong lol....me and his vet keep "patching" him and I just believe he has a good blood line and great vet care....I got him from of all places a "shelter" 10 years ago for the bargain price of $40. What is sad is that earlier this year I found his breeder in another state and she was outraged that he was put in a shelter. I said but I have him and he is fine! This time when I brought him to the vet he had had a seizure which in my 53 years of owning cats I have never witnessed or experienced. I was scared out of my mind. #1 she said his blood pressure was sky high and #2 his kidney numbers were off. She put him on a BP medication and suggested he eat low protein, low phosphorous foods, which I had tried years ago and all the cats hated them....BUT THIS WET FOOD HE IS NUTS OVER!!! He absolutely loves it from the first time I put it down for him....omg I am so happy that he loves it. I only wish it came in the smaller cans because he can't eat a whole can in a day and I don't like refrigerating it and then warming it up. However, I do recommend it for cats with renal and heart problems. Diet and medication and you and your vet, will help your kitty to live a long and better life.

Cats either likes it or hates it
My cat has chronic kidney disease that makes it very hard for her to maintain weight. The price beats prescription cat food (which I don't recommend). This patte style kidney diet food has the perfect ratios of phosphorus and protein to help keep the kidneys from being over-stressed. With that said, I could only get one of my 4 cats to eat this food and she was not the one with renal failure. After 1 week, she refused to eat. I have read mixed reviews about the palatability of Hi-TOR. The general consensus is that your cat either likes it or hates it.Note: The food itself is rather dark and does not smell like traditional cat food.

Question ingredients
My CRF male cat will eat this food, however, I note that this food is no lower in protein nor phosphorus than any top selling canned food, with phosphorus at .10% and protein at 8.0%, which makes this very expensive. The prescription canned food is much lower in both. I use a non-calcium phosphorus powered binder in his food. I will not do sub-q's as I did with my other cat as I now see this as only prolonging an incidious terminal disease and force additional stress - only to see the end symptoms continue within a few months, likely because of the disease stage. Phosphorus is proven to be a huge factor in CKD. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure some cats can and will live on with this therapy, however mine did not. A 3 rating as he will eat it, but I question the statement of low levels of these ingredients. With CRF the need is to feed whatever they will eat at some point. (Note that I too received dented cans)

Bad choice
First of all Product came on a bag without protection, how can they send the cans without carton board or plastic. This is because the company wants to save money and do it care about quality of the food. After my experience I decided to give this product to my cat because it seems good. However my cat did not even try it since the smell was so bad.Hope it was only a bad batch

This Neo wet cat food for kidney cats is palatable and well made of reasonable ingredients
My kidney cats like this meaty cat food, which contains a range of various meats. It does contain meat by-products but nonetheless it smells good and has a good texture.

NOT vet recommended.
My 15 year old cat was diagnosed with renal failure 4 months ago. Knowing that it's irreversible, taking steps to maximize her remaining lifespan though a prescription diet is an important part of her wellness plan. Like many senior kitties with this condition, keeping weight on is a struggle. She's a picky eater who stops eating food once she tires of the flavor, which is frequently. As such, I searched for choices outside of the Royal Canin renal formulas that she'd stopped eating. I was encouraged by the many reviews stating that their vets had approved of Hi-Tor Neo Diet as a safe alternative. I impulsively ordered on this basis without first checking with my own veterinarian. Fast forward to her next visit when I shared the new food with her. She read the ingredients with disdain, then pointed out the the manufacturer was Monster Pets, not a good brand in her opinion. It was certainly not comparable to a prescribed food, she said. She wishes that labeling would prevent them from using the words "Veterinary Select." She recommended that I discontinue it immediately. Her new feeding guidelines for maintaining proper diet are: 1. Stop feeding small amounts of wet food on demand. 2. Place a full 3 oz. can on a non-plastic plate, not bowl, and surround it with a "moat" of water twice daily. The water will gradually mix with the food as the cat eats it, thus increasing crucial fluid intake. 3. Purchase every flavor of the prescribed food and rotate through them with every serving. 4. Offer about 2 tablespoons of prescription dry food daily and/or offer them as treats.I was sceptical, since my cat had only been eating about 1 tablespoon of hydrated food 3-4x/day. I didn't think the change would increase her consumption so substantially, but so far she's been doing well. She's eating most or all of each meal. It's early to see if it will add some much needed weight, but I'm hopeful. I urge you to contact your own vet before making changes to a renal diet. I gave 2 stars only because my cat seemed to like it.

Willie eat this the best!
Twenty years old cat with kidney problems loves the taste of this over all other brands..... With luck WGW will turn twenty one in September 2020. I still have to keep switching between brands but this is his first pick. Out of the can or blended with a bit more water for him to drink a kitty shake. Seems cats with this problem are picky. He switches between brands and form every few days.
