Depending on the model there is either a 1 or 2 year warranty. If you have to contact them go to the Seagate web site. They have an 800 number to call. Have the drive close so you can give them any information they ask for. From this point they may pay to return the defective drive or you may have to, or they may not want it back (unlikely).
