Rico makes it even worse by having Rico
My teenage daughter has been playing alto sax for about five years now and I'm always the one that has to order her new reeds- which is frustrating since I don't have a musical bone on my body. Rico makes it even worse by having Rico, Rico Royal, this variation and about five others...so I thought that it would be helpful if I went into a little more detail here for the other "noob" parents with a situation like mine. This past summer, I decided to break down and order a sample pack of all the 3.5 reeds on Amazon to see which ones sounded the best. And surprisingly, each reed we tried did give a different tone or clarity....and some of the generic ones here did sound excellent. What we learned, however, is that the no-name brands do not have consistent quality and you can get a box with multiple cracked or defective reeds from lousy workmanship. So it usually pays to buy quality since it works out to about the same price either way over time. Our favorites were Rico, Vandoren and Legere. These Grand Concert reeds ending up being my daughter's favorite, however, because she says that they're a good all-purpose reed for jazz or concert music. She used them for both marching band and her region band audition because they deliver a deep tone and great clarity, plus it seems like she has very few "rejects" per box that are damaged or low quality. They are a buck or two more than they regular Rico's, but they're definitely worth giving a try.Sorry I couldn't get more technical with you, but hopefully this helps just the same. =)

Good reeds, but easily breakable.
It has broken several times but when the reed is in tip-top shape, the sound quality is out of this world.

Not bad quality reeds, but not the greatest. Just fair.
Personally, I have trouble making these reeds sound just as great as Vandoren's. I've been playing saxophone for 34 years now, and I bought them to give these reeds a try. I feel these reeds to be lower quality than Vandoren's. If you need good quality reeds, buy Vandoren. Buy these reeds only as an emergency, or as a second option after Vandoren's. Therefore, these reeds will work fair and suit your playing needs, but you will need to change to a different playing position and different technique to make them sound fair enough.

Great reeds, great price
We have tried several different brands. For the money, my son prefers the Rico Grand Concert Select reeds. He plays alto and bari sax - and prefers these for both. This is a good strength for an intermediate player that switches instruments.

WOW! WORKS WELL!
Just took a chance and ordered these. The packaging of these RICO alto sax reeds looks classy. Each reed came in its plastic case and they all look great as inspected (I've read reviews of other RICO reeds ordered on Amazon and they complained that some reeds in the box are broken). These are great! This particular RICO GRAND CONCERT reed actually work well and it does give a warm tone quality. I am now going to use this kind of reed all the time -- I love it!

my instructor recommended these. The Grand Concert Select reeds are very
These are very firm reeds. I had been using Vandoran 2.5's and was going to move up to 3's. However, my instructor recommended these. The Grand Concert Select reeds are very, very firm. Great sound; I probably could have chosen Rico Grand Concert Select 2.5 strength and been just as pleased with the quality. I'm struggling a little with these, but the 3's sound is great.

Tres bonnes anches !

Ottime, ma non per soprano...
Ottime ance.Peccato però che sono... per sax contralto.Quindi: qualità ottima, ma differenti dalla descrizione per una qualità essenziale e determinante del consenso.Le ho regalato al mio Maestro... (è lui che le ha giudicate ottime).
