Got this to replace the actual antique one we've still been using and it's sturdy and does the job well. So easy to beat eggs with this thing!

This egg beater is far superior to the last one I had. Not to say I was dissatisfied, but it fell apart, and in comparison, the beaters were flimsier so that I was easily able to bend them. While the old one was held together with glue and little plastic lid dealies the beaters were fitted into, these beaters were attached by metal magic into the metal gears. The old one had plastic gears. I puzzle over bad reviews since I was thrilled with this egg beater. It's pretty too. I suppose it may need to be oil or some have received defective ones. I don't expect it to replace and electric mixer, blender or immersion blender. Mostly I want to use it in place of my wire whisk, which is useless.

We had an antique, literally as far as we could determine, but I finally wore out the gears, and I love the old timey design. It took a while to find something similar but I saw this on amazon and immediately pulled the trigger, and no regrets about it since. This one being stainless steel instead of nickel plated or chrome plated steel, should last even longer. Cheap, and it just works. I just operate it in the usual sink of soapy dishwater we leave our dishes in until we have enough to run the dishwasher, then I give it a quick rinse under the tap and bobs yer uncle. I would buy another one but I am 65 already and I will wear out before this egg beater.

I like the fact that it is kind of old school. reminds me of one we had when I was growing up. The only complaint I have is that the gears hang sometimes and I have to really struggle to keep it cranking. One way I've been able to solve this is to crank in the opposite direction for a few turns and then it works fine again. Not sure how to fix that problem. Other than that I like it, the blades are nice and large and it does a great job on eggs and other light weight batters that I have used it for.

The handle is very difficult to turn, the gears are very stiff. This means it is difficult to reach high speeds needed to really blend or whip certain foods. It really does no better than a large spoon. I am very disappointed in this product.

I had a hand beater like this years ago that was a hand-me-down when I got it. It finally fell apart over 20 years ago and I'd been trying to replace it ever since. I could never find one that whipped eggs rapidly and was sturdy ... until now.Except for the clear hard plastic handles the entire beater is stainless steel. It is sturdy, heavy and large. And it works! I can easily whip a single egg white to stiff peaks in my copper bowl in less than one minute!When I first got it there was some issue with it 'starting' due to the punched cam wheel and the rotor cogs not quite meshing. I'd just have to start it 'backwards' for a crank or two first. After a couple of weeks use this went away as the metal parts seated together.I expect this beater to last many, many years and will probably outlast me! If you whip a lot of egg whites for cooking, or whip cream, you could not ask for a better tool.

I would have preferred it to be a bit heavier, like the one my mum has and I used always growing up. Great for small jobs.

This items is great when you want to whip eggs, whipped cream or make pancake batter but don't want to bring out a larger mixer or use a plain whisk. Good sturdy quality.
