Is this supposed to be unsealed, bright/neon orange, and smell like a watermelon jolly rancher? Seems very strange

Yes! I tried this first in a salon which is what made me go out and buy it. It is orange and smells like watermelon jolly ranchers! As fsr as unsealed I'm only assuming so. Mine came that way and I thought it was weird also, but I think if it was fake, the smell/color would have been off a bit, and mine did not appear used or dirty at all.

Is there any heat protectant in this?

I don’t think so I have it but it’s just a nourishment oil

Is this a leave in hair serum conditioner or to be rinsed out?

This is a leave in serum. Can be used on damp or dry hair.

Does anybody know what this product smells like?

What it smells like? Ummmm... not sure how to describe he smell. It smells really good. I put it in my hair after showering and after I flat iron it.
