New life for an old pen!
As smooth and clean as you'd ever want. I just came across one of my dad's Cross pens - he got this one about 40 years ago and the last ink refill would've been in 1983 or '84. A bit dry and scratchy in this desert climate, as you'd expect. Maybe better than you'd expect, since most ballpoint pens would completely have dried out in 30 years! But with a fresh refill, it's a brand new pen again. My dad died in 1984, shortly after completing his MBA. As it happens, I'm working on my doctoral dissertation. For the price of this refill pack, I'm able to use his old pen. It doesn't sound like much, but I feel connected to him again. When the research or writing is going nowhere and I pick up the pen to make a note, I'm re-inspired. I remember him in his office, taking a moment to try to help me with my junior high algebra homework with this same pen. So maybe this pen will become a small family heirloom and my daughter or even granddaughter will use this same pen down the road, and be encouraged and inspired by it. I hope so.

Do not buy these refills
These may be "real" Cross refills, they are also real garbage. To save trips across town to Office Depot i bought several 2-packs here, black medium point. At first i thought i was using up the ink quickly because the ink would skip, stop writing etc. So i'd try another refill. Same thing. Soon I had 6 refills sitting on my desk trying to find one that would write for more than a few lines.Very sad, i love my gold Cross pen. but now it just takes too long to write anything.Since these are "authentic" Cross refills, i don't know where to go for a refill that actually works.Don't waste your money on these, you will end up spending so much time trying to make them write that it's not worth it.

Sadly, Cross no longer provides a quality Refill.
Cross used to be a top quality pen manufacturer. In my recent experience, they no longer make a quality refill. I have purchased this refill cartridge as well as others from office supply stores, including Fine, Medium, and Bold points. None of them are acceptable. They all blob up and are messy to use. They get ink on the pen tip and on the paper you are writing on. Cheap disposable pens are far superior in performance. I don't understand why a old line quality company like Cross can't provide as good a quality ink cartridge as throw away pens like those sold by companies like Pentel and Pilot. I do not recommend this Cross Refill.

Cross is dead, worst pen refill I've ever seen.
Avoid like the plague and be sure to send feedback straight to Cross from their own website and ensure them that they deserve any business misfortune they may encounter. The pen that takes these refills is NOT cheap. We literally have a 14kt gold Cross pen that is now absolutely worthless because Cross offshored to China. This is inexcusable. Moving your critical production to China while continuing to profit from claiming to be very American is absolutely disgusting. It doesn't matter if the pens are made here if you can't get working refills for them.If the refills actually functioned as such, it would still be unforgivable but maybe slightly tolerable... but these simply just don't work. They refuse to consistently write on any media. Constant skipping.

Poor Quality
I've used my Cross pen for five years now and I buy Cross branded refills as I expect Cross quality. However, after using this refill for less than a month, the ink is so light that I can barely read what I've written. It's also a chore to move the pen tip across the page. I'm quite disappointed as I love my Cross pen but detest the experience of writing with these subpar refills as the quality of each refill has become worse and worse. Now that the refills are lasting only a month, I would do much better to buy a pack of cheap pens and the writing experience would be far superior to these refills.

Who would want to make terrible refills for $30+ pens
Woah I feel ripped off. Cross, a high quality company, selling spotty ink refills. Both refills cut in and out. The refills I’ve purchased before never cut out and still work. Probably 10 years old, the quality I expected to get from this. Cross seems to be selling expensive sticks of faulty ink for $5 dollars a piece. Very expensive junk. The quality of the ink has diminished drastically over the years. I’m very saddened by this. i could have bought a 5 pack of G-4 Pilots. A 50 pack of cheap throw away Bic pens. What a letdown. Who would want to make terrible refills for $30+ pens... it’s not cool... It’s a slap in my face... These were brand new. Unless I got stock from the 1990’s but I couldn’t have it’s made in China.

Definitively not the same product than old times.....
Definitively Cross is no more the "Fine writting instruments" they used to be.....I am a pen collector and I have 2 Cross Ball point without refill, and I decide to buy this pack.....one of refills came slightly bent , meaning do not fit properly and has malfunction into the ballpen system. The black color of ink is near Grey, a awfull color, not common in hi end pens.....the feel of writing is ok but unpleasant, all those used to write with Cross Ballpens knows how they surpases in comfort even Luxury Brands Like Montblac...but not today...today this refills has a unpleasant feel even after several weeks of use, meaning....no break down period.....tipical Made in China 2nd class product. Its a pity....Cross was my favorite in BALLPOINT class.

Real Cross Refill at an Excellent Price
I have been using Cross pens for at least 30 years. I like the look, feel and writing experience of a Cross pen. From time to time I have made the mistake of using a generic refill. Now I will only purchase and use authentic Cross refills.I use the medium blue for my everyday writing. But on occasion, I have the need to use red ink, therefore I purchased some of the red refills. I like the way the ink flows, it goes on evenly with no smudges. If I need to change refill cartridges, it is quick and easy. I keep the tip protector to store the red refill when not in use.All the Cross refills I have used provide a very smooth, even writing. The ink does not blob up. It also does not dry out or require any special effort to start the ink flowing. The refills have a fairly long life - there is a lot of ink in the refill and they do not dry out. These refills were actually less expensive from Amazon than if I had purchased them directly from Cross. So I also like the price.

Buy Genuine for Quality and Logevity
I bought this as even though I spend all day at my PC & could easily write notes on the PC's notebook, I still like to make manual notes and it difficult to find a pen that just suits my needs. I got my cross pen free with a suit that I purchased a couple of years ago and it only ran out about 6 weeks ago, I was going to buy a knock off refill but remembered my last experience with a previous pen, the roller ball felt like it was catching on something and the ink never flowed consistently. If this refill lasts as long as the last, it will fill up an A5 notebook and more...moral is you get what you pay for.

Happy with my Cross refills
I was a little worried that they wouldn't be the pukka job because of some of the reviews. I made sure I bought them from Amazon and not a marketplace seller just in case. I am pleased to report that they arrived carded exactly as in the picture and now I have 2 refills for the cost of 1 inc postage direct from Cross. Refill worked straight away and is very smooth. Can't comment on longevity yet. I don't suppose the broad refill will last as long as a fine one because it puts more ink on the paper as you write. We'll see.

Perhaps not even half-full????
Sure enough - they fitted my Cross pen, But NINE WEEKS later BOTH have run out. And that's using one at a time (so 4½ weeks each). The first one I imagined was just bad luck.....but no. The fact that they're produced in China was a bit dodgy, too..... Just ordered some more refills from a different company.

These refills both ran out of ink absurdly quickly: but I did get a refund
I received these at the end of June, but did not start using these until August, after the returns date had expired, although I did not realise this at the time. Although my use of them is light, one ran out of ink witin a week and the next within two weeks. However, as I did get a refund without question.I hope that this was an aberration; from the other star ratings, I assume so.

Does not last long
All seemed good at 1st but only it only lasted one month I and had to change to the 2nd refill, which seems to be running out already. I had the pen from new. The original lasted over a year.
