fascinating - how the world has changed since this was written
Reading this today it is easy to see how much the world has changed since this was first published in 1933. A group people of many different nationalities, on a train caught by snowdrifts and unable to move, faced with the murder of one of their number - and with Hercule Poirot on hand to resolve matters; a perfect set up for a fast paced, fascinating tale. And it is - i read it in a day, and enjoyed it thoroughly. The changes are amazing - everyone smokes - and on the train at that - they judge people by their nationalities, and have a whole host of national stereotypes to draw on, and no one can communicate withe the rest of the world - no mobile phones, no computers, no email. A different world - the tale starts in Aleppo - but a fascinating one, in a story brilliantly told

Disappointing
This is the first Agatha Christy novel that I have read. I have seen the story on TV and I wondered if the book would be better. I find the dramatisations a bit over the top. I am afraid I found the book to be the same. I suppose it is of its time and it has not stood up well. Poirot arrives at his conclusions mostly through guesswork and little evidence. Just as well it did not go to court.

Still reading this book
So far so good I’ve never read any of Agatha Christie’s books before, so I’d thought I would start with this book. Then after death on the Nile.I do love a good murder mystery, don’t know why it’s took me this long to start reading her books 🤷♀️

Interesting
Very pretty book cover. I can’t stop looking at it on the shelf. The story... Interesting but the ending is bad. Suddenly it’s just over. And the critics were right - the author doesn’t give much away during the story. It’s more like random facts that are impossible to properly assemble as there is always something redirecting your train of thoughts.

Beautiful
First off, I know you aren’t supposed to judge a book by it’s cover, but this cover is magnificent! Since Murder on the Orient Express is one of my favourite Agatha Christie novels, I had to get this beautiful edition! The story is deep and meaningful, controversial and will make you think differently when it comes to the deed of murder. Such an insightful and emotional story.
