The upside is it lures you into a false sense of confidence, so it's a good book to learn how precarious perceived understanding can be. It is certainly painful, but this occasionally can be a good way to learn. I liked How to Prove it slightly better, especially with logic, but the style/organization is cleaner with this book. I originally was not going to purchase the book, but a singular insight (I felt specific to this book) convinced me to buy it just to support the authors. I don't remember what it was though D Review: This book is great to transition into advanced mathematics - This book is great to transition into advanced mathematics. I am currently taking introduction to Mathematical Proofs and this book is really good. I haven't had the need to really check any other resources. It is just important that you dedicate the time to work the problems and understand what is happening. The definition boxes are incredibly helpful!

Great 👍 Textbook
This is one if the best and well written textbooks I have ever had. I wish I could afford to have it in my library! Thanks to the author(s)!

Cheaper than Chegg!
Arrived promptly and as expected at a very low price! Supposedly the book was new, but the cover looks pretty beaten; I don’t personally care, however.

Recebi ontem. Estava muito bem embalado. Capa dura, excelente paginação, uso de duas cores que deixou o livro mais bonito. Estava baratíssimo que tive que comprar para compor minha estante de livros de inglês-matemático.

This book is alright but it is absolutely chock full of mistakes, including even in the statement of theorems (see for example Theorem 2.3.1(e) on page 105) and in proofs (see for example proof (ii) on page 108). The book is in its eighth edition and has three authors. It's a complete mystery how there could be so many mistakes in a book that has gone through so many editions. Seems as though the authors - all three of them - were too lazy to proofread their own book.
