Not all aftershave splashes smell like their soapy counterparts. Some come close but don't quite match the scent of the soap or cream. Tabac, La Toja and Speick are just a few examples of this. However, this is not the case with Sherlock Aftershave Splash. The scent of the aftershave matches perfectly with the soap. The first time I used it, I was also pleasantly surprised to discover that it possesses a strong menthol kick. There is a slight brisk burning sensation upon application that quickly cools down and calms the skin. The scent strength is fairly strong so go easy. You won't have to apply much before you begin projecting the scent. All in all this is a great performing aftershave and if you enjoy the scent of Sherlock Shaving Soap, you won't be disappointed.

I'm immediately transported to a large early 1800s study, tucked away in a large mysterious estate home. The smells of old leather furniture, pipe tobacco, earth, and possibly a small fire cackling in the fireplace is instantly on my skin, seeping into my pores. 3 question remain; where did jeeves leave my smoking jacket? Where is Dr. Watson? Lastly, more importantly, do we still have brandy? This is the smell you are buying gentleman. I bid you adieu

I love the earthy scent of this! I catch the tobacco and leather but it does have that pepper/earthiness that I like. Worth getting!

I enjoy the quality of this aftershave and it actually has a lasting, but subtle scent. While I'm not sure I am entirely in love with the 'earth' scent that accompanies the other fragrances in this mix (kind of smells like potting soil), it is not unpleasant so I will continue to use what I have. I look forward to trying other Chiseled Face 'flavors', as I do appreciate the limited number of ingredients used and the natural, non-synthetic aroma provided.

Got this one a few months ago. It's a great aftershave -- lots of cooling and skin toning, a real blast of menthol. Whips razor burn. And it has a wonderful fragrance that does remind me of earth and leather. (As another reviewer observed, it goes really well with the Sherlock soap, which is pretty great, too.) Anyone who thinks this is a feminine odor--as one reviewer claimed--probably hangs around with women who wear kerosene and diesel fumes.

I love the smell unfortunately they do not make a cologne. All the women in my office like the smell its not overpowering and it does not smell cheap or like a teenage boy with too many hormones. I would recommend the scent but get yourself a small spray bottle because you will have to reapply at least once a day when going out into the wild world.
