Love it!
So easy to use. Takes up very little space. I very happy with my purchase! It does not leave your muscles achy. Only a few short time span to start a session on your chair. Well worth the money spent. Yes I do use it at 72 yrs old...and I have not exercised in many many years!! This is a walk in the park!! Jennifer

Malibu Pilates
A machine I actually use. Haven't exercised for a long time so it was hard to do at first, just started slow & worked my way up to about 45 min. There are 4 spring levels. 1 by 2 spring tension levels and then using the peddles seperately or together. It has really improved my balance also. Only bad thing is all exercises are done with bare feet. I tried for several weeks to do this a thought maybe my feet would get used to it. Not...I now wear my shoes. Have to make sure not to let your foot slip off, the springs are under alot of tension & I bruised the back of my calf. 5 different workouts. I switch between them. Every exercise is explained so after doing it awhile it is too easy. I still play it but while she is explaining the next exercise I just continue doing reps.

Just one drawback
It is a very well built chair BUT the handles do not match the holes so you can't snap them on.

great must have machine-- Get used one of Craigslist for Cheap!
Get a Malibu Pilates Chair or Pro chair off Craigslist for anywhere between $25 (lowest I've seen) to $65, the norm is around $45, more if Pro w/ te 2nd stronger spring. (Can buy heavier springs/replacement springs on eBay/Pilates stores) DISCLOSURE: IN NOT A PILATES INSTRUCTOR OR MALIBU PILATES REP OR WORK FOR ANY OTHER PILATES COMPANY! I own both a "real one" and a Malibu pro from craigslist. I got "real one" at a lucky visit to Goodwill, or else I'd never be able to afford. Hubby whose 6'2 finds "real one" a bit more comfy. I have been using Malbu pro for 2 yrs on & off due to operations/recovery time. * I've also owned many Stamina reformers and a ladder barrell (same Goodwill lucky trip. There is a website that teaches you how to build Ladder Barrel yourself, along w/ few other Pilates machines!) A) extended handles are cool but not necessary B) don't buy from store or HSN or webstore because they charge $300-500! C) don't worry if foam is lightly worn or has a small tear, but you need foam on foot pedals-- can buy foam and cut to fit. ** Important: MAKE SURE SPRINGS WORK & PEDALS WORK TOGETHER AND SEPERATELY! D) Chair can stick when folding or unfolding, so use WD-40 or try and keep seat open, pedal/s closed up, and use as ottoman, tv stand, or plant stand when not using ;) E) LAST, BUT MORE IMPORTANT: IGNORE VIDEOS THAT COME W/ MALIBU PILATES CHAIRS-- THEY'RE WRONG, STUPID & WILL GET YOU FRUSTRATED W/ CHAIR AT BEST, SERIOUSLY INJURIED AT WORSE!!! * watch YouTube videos and you will learn proper techniques and endless amounts of exercises * google centerworks and pilates chair exercises and you can find websites that have free chair exercise manual you can download-- amazing! CHAIR is about 40 lbs, so it's easy enough to move around house and you can take it w/ you in car. In my opinion, the Pilates chair is the best gym out there. I love the reformer, but, but for a tiny footprint, you can't beat this as a universal GYM: your kids/teens playing baseball, volleyball, football, etc would benefit from it to any adult who want to get in shape! You can do 100+ Plus exercises others machines can't. If you don't like an exercise or it hurts, don't do it. Some people say they "outgrew" machine, bull. They were Either using wrong, didn't like it, or weren't dedicated. Pilates uses controlled breathing and controlled moves-- you can't outgrow! There's always different ways to do exercises, more advanced exercises, or just doing same exercises w/ more precision the stronger you get. * see YouTube dancers & see how they're perfect bodies didn't outgrow machine/s! Do not use Chair as a cardio machine and do hundred of reps, 30 mins bike pedaling, etc-- that's the Malibu videos and HSN bull and it's wrong. You get cardio by going slowly and holding position a while-- controlled breathing while maintaining a muscle-contracing exercise will have you sweating and your heartbeat pounding in a minute. Don't believe me, Do a lunge/squat/bridge and hold position for 2 mins-- you'll be sweating and hating your muscles the next day. * when stronger, hold it for 4 minutes. Pros of chair: Assisted step up "squats/side-squates" & "reverse step-down squats." The springs helps lift you up off the floor. This machine has a long wait at the gym and is expensive to buy. You might want Handles when doing step up or reverse step-down lunges/squates, but I have terrible balance and don't need them. * you can do dips w/ exended handles or have them assist in Harder exercises. You can lay on machine and do push-ups and so many variations from that one position of arm, shoulder, stomach exercises. You can do triceps by sitting on floor and using pedals- alone or together. Or sit on the chair facing away from pedals, slide down and grab pedal w/ your hands. Now you can do triceps, back, shoulder, and other exercises. You can work Every part of leg and stomach-- some are brutal! Back exercises, pelvic exercises, all body muscles can be worked! Craigslist gets you cheaper, used machine. It may take time, but you'll find one! It's bigger, heavier, and harder to keep closing and store under bed, as Mailbu informericals claim. Especially if you're using a few times a week, but it's a real gym. They are easish to travel with, but take up more room in car then you'd expect. So I prefer taking bamds ahd doing floor exercises. But you over 100 exercises. * simply moving you foot position when sitted gives you like 5 ways to work legs! Then there's exercises while standing, you can't do on most machines. * most exercises work your core at same time as that's the Pilates technique. Remember, even YouTube videos can be wrong, dangerous, or too advances. But there are many free trainers who give step-by-step instructions on each exercises. Replacement parts: springs, foam, seats can be gotten on eBay or Pilates stores! Hope this helps!
