Are the rods round or flat?

round but the black base around holds its in place. 5 stars

Will this work for my handled scrubber? Will the handle drop between slats?

I think it would be fine, depending on the handle. The slots are 1” wide

Does a plastic model exist? I like it but wished it wasn't stainless steel

I have no idea about plastic. However, this is really nice. Just rinse it off when you need to. I have two of them and no problems at all.

Will this work for an under-mount sink?

I actually "think" it would :-)
