I do not recommend this bed rail at all. I got it because when we rearranged my sons room, his bed was no longer up against the wall and we needed another rail to make sure he was safe. I should have purchased the same brand as my other rail but I went with this one because it was a little cheaper. First, it was a pain to put together. The straps were so incredibly jumbled and knotted that it took my husband and I like 45 minutes to untie them! We couldn’t get the straps tight enough against the slats, and then when we put the mattress back on the bed, the rails were digging into it and we didn’t want to ruin the mattress. Just overall a bad product. Will be returning.

I will update this once my problem/replacement is resolved but I am really bummed out. My husband purchased this used like new on amazon thinking that if it is still being sold that it is fully functional. The parts are not correct, the assembly is super simple and it looks like a great product if I am to have the appropriate pieces to build it but it came with 2 top pieces that don't fit properly. One is to go into the other and latch...I got 2 of the same identical pieces. Toddler needs to sleep in his own bed.UPDATE! I received my replacement and it is perfect and works like it's supposed to.

We bought two of the rails for twin girls !!Best one yet , so glad I bought this , it’s the the one thing keeping my sleeping kids from not falling down their big kids beds . They lean against it , sometimes hang their dolls or make a bridge between their beds with pillows and it hasn’t moved . Easy to fold down when you need to get the kids out of bed and replacing bed sheets ! We really love it !!

Make sure your mattress is short enough to make this worth the hassle. Our mattress is a little higher than some and this guard barely clears the top better than 3”.The hassle in assembly just isn’t worth it. We still have to take the mattress down so the straps get connected under it. Ugh. I would return it if I wasn’t past the return windows.
