The PA Blank Framing Mats are a good place to begin, especially if you have an odd size picture that you'd like to mat, you can cut the interior dimensions yourself and save some money. You can also use them as a sturdy backing for a framing "sandwich" and even use then as a base for other art projects. Of course they are acid free, but not suggested for use in Conservation Framing. These solid pieces of mat board comes with no openings. The 16"x 20" measurement is exterior dimensions. A blank mat with black surface and a white core.

If the first sheet had been packed good side down it would have been alright
Product received damaged, as previously reported. Appears that a large box had been placed on lid of box causing damage to the top sheet of board. The second sheet had white spots over the board. Third sheet o.k and usable. If the first sheet had been packed good side down it would have been alright, Fortunately I only required one sheet for my project,
