Adapt to your environment with the 3-in-1 prAna Sage Convertible Pant. Push through the undergrowth in a full length pant, use interior tabs to roll up into a Capri for bouldering, and then zip off into shorts when the day is hottest. Water resistance and stretch are a given, while cargo pockets keep your keys and wallet secure at every stage.

Top notch. You need these pants.
So I got these pants today, and realized I need about 3 more pairs just like it :)I am 5'5", 150 lbs. I usually wear an 8-10 in pants, depending on brand. I need about a 31" inseam. I got these in an 8, knowing I will lose a little weight over the summer as usual. I anticipated they would be a smidge tight, but they really aren't. They fit perfectly, and if I did lose a little in the middle, there's a hidden drawstring in the waistband so I could make due. The leg length is about a half inch too long, but not a big issue. The fabric has a nice feel to it- lightweight, not loud and swishy, soft, but definitely durable and a little stretchy. The cargo pockets are a great addition, and the mesh inside the regular pockets front and back are nice as well. The back and cargo pockets have these weird little hidden corner buttons, which in theory are a good idea. They keep the corners from rolling up after repeated washes, and also an extra layer of security if you are somewhere that pickpocketing is an issue. In practice, they are hard to master rebuttoning. But I figured out a way that works for me.My only 2 complaints are very minor - I wish the removable pants had some indication which one is left or right. I had to figure it out the hard way. So I pained the zipper pull of the right side red, that way I would know which is which. Also, the section around the thigh where the zipper is was slightly tight on me. Only noticeable if I'm squatting or raising my leg like I'm climbing. It needs to be a little looser here, as the zipper adds some bulk, and eliminates the stretch. I can put up with it tho.Other than that, these pants are awesome, and generally true to sizeto size. They also make my butt look great, which is saying something for a utilitarian pant. :)

Mixed feelings about these pants.
I have (and love) the Halle pant from Prana. I ordered these for two reasons, the pockets and the zip off short option. However, after receiving them, I have mixed feelings about them. Here's why: 1. The fabric is much thinner than the Halle pant. It feels less substantial but this may be an asset on warmer weather hikes; 2. They fit a bit tighter in the waist than the Halle even though I ordered the same size. This makes them a bit tight for my comfort; 3. The legs seem much wider. I feel like they flap around a lot and that could get annoying; 4. Although the zippers for the shorts do not feel tight on my legs, I can definitely feel them while walking and it's not the most comfortable feeling; 5. On the plus side, I really like them as shorts. They hit just above my knee like a Bermuda and once you zip off the bottom leg, the zipper is much more tolerable. I definitely would not pay full price for these but since I paid about half that, I may keep them to mainly use as shorts.

Legs are way too baggy
I really wanted to love this pants, and the prAna Halle pants. I bought these for an upcoming backpacking trip in New Mexico. The Sage pants, as well as the Halle pants, are very fitted in the butt / thigh area, but then are straight legs all the way to the bottom. This resulted in a REALLY baggy boot area, so much so that I could almost pull the pant legs over my size 8 boots while keeping them flat on the ground. Seems like something I would kick/trip over while hiking. I also bought these and the Halle with the intention of rolling the pant legs up, but found they are way to baggy to do that well. The loops in the pants are also quite low, where you'd only roll them up slightly past your boots. I'd prefer to roll them up to just below my knees, and to do that I would have the straps dangling, and a ton of material around my knees. Lastly, I found that the zipper / shorts area was a little too bulky and rigid, and I thought that would bother my thighs while hiking. I'm returning these and continuing my search for versitle and comfy pants. My next stop is REI's Sahara pants or TNF's convertible pants. If the legs were just slightly tapered, and the zipper not as noticible, these seem like they would be other wise very comfy pants. Unlike the Halle pants, these have useful cargo pockets. The normal pockets are too small to be useful. I can't imagine anything that would fit in those. Sage pants have the useable cargo pockets, but the Halle pants don't.

Sage vs Halle
In case you are wondering how the Sage pants differs from the Halle:1. Material is lighter2. Not as form fitting, more relaxed fit3. If you have thicker thighs, the zippers to convert to shorts may end up pressing against your skin which is uncomfortable. In the end, I ended up buying the Halle in different colors.

Amazing!! Absolutely Love!
Ok, I never writer reviews, but after seeing the low rating on the Prana Sage hiking pant, I had to. This is the best hiking pant I have ever owned. I actually ordered my third pair today even though it was not in my budget. I did multiple day hikes in Banff in these and then a 4 day thru hike. I switched them with a different brand on the 3rd day and ended up wearing the Prana Sage on the 4th again because it was so much better! Kept me cool when needed, warm when needed, and sweat free. I love the fit and the pockets were a major plus when carrying a 47lb pack on my back and needed some things handy like my phone and TP. These have been the most comfortable hiking pants I have ever worn and the ability to zip off into shorts helped tremendously and still looked great. The lightweight fabric is a big plus in my book as well as the looser fit (which I didn't think was that loose, if you want tight, wear yoga pants). If temps get cold I can put my wools under them. Love, Love Love!!!

Nice and light but fits on the small side!
I have 2 pairs of Halle pants which I LOVE but they are a little bit warm for really hot weather travel/days. Hence, I thought I would try the Sage. They are just what I was looking for. I don't have any trouble with the zipper digging into me. However, the pants fit way smaller than I was expecting. I'm usually between an 8 and a 10 in the Halle. I ordered a 10 and they're quite snug in the waist. I immediately jumped onto the scale but the numbers are the usual ones. :) I'll keep these anyway as I'm at the top-end of my weight fluctuation. AND they were $16.

Seller failed to disclose this was a TALL product,
Great convertibles I have owned a few pairs I particularly like the cargo pockets. They are long lasting I have 3 pairs I alternate April - nov .I am short I would not buy tall, tall was not noted in the product info , I probably wouldn’t have purchased. That’s why I gave 3 stars

Tight in the crotch area
The quality of these pants is top notch. I am 5'7" and 155 lbs and ordered size 10. It felt true to size around the waist. However, it was a little tight in the thighs, but nothing problematic. The most concerning is that it was very tight in the crotch. I almost took them back, but the quality was so excellent and the pockets so handy, I decided to keep them. I will just have to wear long shirts.

Best pants ever
Great for people with wide bums and small waists that don't want that stupid gap thing that happens at the back. There are not any pants out there that fit me better than these. For reference:I got a size 4, and I measure: 26 waist, 38 hips, inseam 30.These are too long on me because they are the "tall" version, but the pants are too good to care.
