I thought I had ruined our less expensive automatic lid trash can, so replaced it with this Simple Human. Before it arrived, the other one started working again, but I chose to keep the Simple Human. I'm so glad I did. The lid is MUCH quieter, but more importantly, removing the full trash bag is so much easier. The bag comes out of the can easily, without catching on anything (like the other one did). Also, placing the bag in the can is MUCH easier. The other can had a removable ring that the bag had to be placed around. It had broken, so was taped together... Anyway, Simple Human is more costly, but is far superior in performance over the other brand. Also, it comes with a starter pack of trash bags, but our regular trash bags work just fine, so there is that! I'd recommend this trash can to anyone who wants a sleek, quiet appliance in their home.

Best touch less trash can. Has a slot for air fresheners and for bag refills. Isn’t cheap but it will last you years won’t rust or anything

This is the second time I have ordered this awesome sensor trash can from simplehuman. The first one had a great run and lasted me a long time, but when I was recently redoing my kitchen, I accidentally cracked the top that goes up when the sensor is tripped.Luckily, I needed a good sized garbage can that will look nice in my laundry room — and it fit perfectly underneath the shelf and didn’t look broken at all. Added to the clean look of a laundry room 100%. Repurposed and awesome, even when broken!Then I went right on Amazon and ordered up this one. I feel like it’s better than the last one just because of normal improvements, but the last one worked awesome anyway so the improvements are just a bonus. It also looks beautiful in my kitchen, instead of like a garbage can that is all yucky.Best part — you cannot see the garbage bag hanging out like on most other sensor garbage cans. It’s the little details that matter and this one is giant if you ask me! I like my kitchen to look very clean and visually pleasing 🙌😎

First off, I love this trash can! When I bought it I felt a little guilty for the amount I spent on it, but it has been worth every penny. I've had it a little over a month now and have it as my main trash can in the kitchen. It has no fingerprints on it yet (even from my 3 1/2 year old). The bags dispense frome the trash can when you change the bag. It's so convenient and saves on cupboard space. Also, it has holes in the bottom of the can to ensure no suction when pulling the bag out. It came with the simple human bags, which I have never tried before and they are also wonderful! Fit the can just right. You don't see the bag sticking out from under the lid. And the bags are very sturdy. They even have a rage on them to let you know when you're low on bags!The only con I can say about the can is that if you Wally too close to the can the lid will open. I've noticed it's not so much in front of the can as if you walk super close and your arm or shadow happens to go over top of the can. Once I figured that out it has been easy to avoid.In short, I love this trash can and you will too if you get one!

I needed a kitchen trashcan that would match my appliances and not get dirty looking or scratched with heavy use. I spent a lot of time researching tall trashcans and considered all my options from very inexpensive with simple mechanics to this little beauty. I like the idea of not actually touching the trashcan, thus no fingerprints, scratches from using a pedal to open it, and minimal goop accidentally slopped on the lid. I cook a lot and previously used an open top plastic trashcan that was stored under the sink. The idea of my kitchen trash can opening via motion sensor is ideal for the many times I handle raw meat or veggie scraps or any other sloppy items. This Simplehuman trashcan is easy to set up, takes AA batteries that are provided in the box, comes with several trash bags in a convenient holder inside the trash can and it's nearly silent when used. The motion sensor works well upon opening and waits until you have cleared the area before it closes. I really like this trash can. I was hesitant about the price, but very glad I bought it because it works well.

Update: the company replaced a trash can and it works really well for over a year now. I’ll give this 5 stars.Before purchasing, I looked through reviews and saw a few saying the motor broke for them. I remmember telling myself "They did not use it properly, its a user's fault. These are expensive trashcans and manufacturer spent their time and put in quality materials". Was I so wrong. Slowly but surely the motor mechanism broke. At first at was a few innocent misreads/failures to open, then it got worse and it seems like the motor has lost its' understanding on where the open/close limits are. When the lid closes, it tries to close it more and grinds. Then when I open trash can fully to change the bag it clicks and does weird stuff like refusing to open or close.In other words this trash can - is trash. Please do not be mistaken that this company cares about you and that you'll be receiving a good product. For me - it is a first and last time I will ever buy anything from this company and I will never reccomend them to someone else. They surely know if the issues surrounding these defective trashcans, but are refusing to take the defective version off the market and replace with working models. They hope that customers who bought the trashcan, will be too inconvenienced to return it. And most people will not. But I will be sure to go through the inconvenice and return this %&$^# and try to forget this experience.

Worked VERY nicely... until it didn't. Our experience was similar to that of some other 1-star reviewers: Lid stopped opening properly after less than a year. Would sometimes open part way and sometimes not at all. It finally failed after 15 months of service to the point that the lid would not open at all and yet the blue light comes on showing that it can see just fine. Chose not to contact Simplehuman because of the bad experiences of other reviewers.A while back, after getting tired of replacing the undersized AA batteries, I retrofitted our trash can with a 4 D-cell battery pack. That fit in nicely with another modification: Adding a raised, vented wooden floor to the inside bottom of the can so that regular kitchen trash bags would fit better, thereby eliminating the need for the special J bag$ and their storage pocket, which is where I mounted the battery holder. So, our trash can worked great for a while, used lower cost normal 13-gallon kitchen trash bags, and didn't burn through batteries so quickly. But then after owning it less than a year it began having intermittent problems. Sometimes it would open just an inch or so, but then after letting it rest for a day or so it would work properly again. We also tried numerous different batteries. The trash can finally reached the point where it will not open at all but the blue light shows the sensor is working. So, I did a bit more troubleshooting yesterday:1) Tested voltage at the batteries to see if these off-brand alkalines were failing under the load of the motor trying to open the lid. No voltage drop detected, so batteries were not the culprit.2) Popped off inner purple liner, removed 4 screws holding on the back panel/lid assembly, and then slid it up and off of the can.3) Removed 2 screws holding together back panel and disassembled it to get to the main control circuit board.4) Tested voltage coming into the circuit board. Same as battery voltage -- within specs and not dropping when motion is detected and blue light comes on. Therefore, wiring is not the problem.5) Measured voltage coming from circuit board to drive the motor. Way, way, way too low at approx. 0.25 volts.6) Direct-connected battery pack to motor. Motor worked fine and lid lifted as expected.Conclusion: Their circuit board has probably failed. I'm guessing it may have a design flaw that causes it to fail after less than a year of service.Solution: We're going to buy a step can instead. Having a touch-free high tech trash can was fun, but not worth the trouble and short lifespan.

I purchased this to replace an identical one we had. Love the sensor because it opens the lid when my hands are full. When the grandkids were little, they thought it was the coolest thing ever too! That's probably part of why it finally died, but it got tons of use in the 8 years we had it.We also love than the trash bags fit perfectly and are easy to replace.

Das einzig wahrnehmbare, aber nicht störende Geräusch ist ein leises Klacken, wenn der Deckel schließt.- Das Vorratsfach für Müllbeutel ist sehr praktisch- Volle Müllbeutel lassen sich gut entnehmen und leere bequem einsetzen.- Der Abfalleimer lässt sich bei Bedarf gut reinigenWir nutzen die Original-Müllbeutel von Simplehuman. Die sind ebenso wie der Abfalleimer selbst alles andere als günstig. Aber man bekommt auch eine entsprechend hervorragende Qualität.Ich kann den Abfalleimer uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Il dubbio se prendere una pattumiera con sensore o a pedale era assillante...Alla fine dopo un periodo di adattamento posso affermare che la pattumiera simplehuman da 45l con sensore è stata la scelta migliore.Si apre veloce e non sbaglia un colpo.Qualità eccelsa per i sacchetti in dotazione, peccato costino troppo i ricambi
