I have been looking for a sketchbook that has higher quality paper than just 60-65lb paper. I had used the Canson Drawing 90lb paper before, and I found that it held up great to erasing, and didn't smudge nearly as bad as the 65lb sketch paper. I hoped they would create a sketchbook with that paper in it. Guess what? They do! The covers were hard which provide stability and protect the papers inside. Canson also makes a less expensive sketchbook with the same 90lb paper but it is perforated and doesn't have the nice hard covers like this one does. I don't plan on tearing out any pages as I use sketchbooks only for myself to monitor my progress and to practice. The description of this product states that there are two different textures, however, I do not perceive any difference in textures. This is perfect for me. I should also mention, that the label on mine even though it says it is a Canson Drawing book, does not state "Art Book" and is green instead of orange-yellow as shown in the picture. Maybe I got something different? Not sure, but what I got I really, really, like a lot and will order again.

Paper has gotten so expensive. This notebook is no exception. However, the quality of the individual pages, cover, and wire binding makes this an exceptional value. I draw with fountain pens and Micron (and other felt-tip) pens so I can't speak to its utility with pencils. But the paper is smooth with a tiny 'bite', slightly cream to my eye, and the perfect weight for ink pens. The notebook gives you a solid drawing surface. And it's the kind of notebook that makes you want to draw, fill it up, and buy a second one. Which is what I did.

This is my all time fave journal. The weight of the paper and spiral binding makes it perfect go to for different projects.

This sketch book is a good product for using with charcoal and Conte' crayons. I've tried several different sketch books over the years and these 90 lb Canson cream colored pages are a good match (IMHO). If you haven't tried one yet, give it a go.

I search out this sketchbook everywhere I go. If somewhere doesn’t have it, I just plane don’t buy a sketchbook. That’s how important to me it is. I have stacks and stacks of these filled with story boards, conference notes, and rough manuscript ideas for picture books. Without it I would be lost, and I don’t want to picture my work without it being there as the first step; providing a perfect canvas that’s not as intimidating as the book bound sketchbooks. It’s small enough to tote in my purse, not bright white (so my white uni ball gel pen shows up), and spiral bound so I can take off the wire when I’m done with it and scan everything in without tearing the pages!
