Mobil oil 1 synthetic  for Mercedes cla250

Excellent oil that is MB approved ...at an excellent price that is available almost everywhere (WM best price). The M270 engine in the CLA250 is spec'd for MB oil standard 229.5  Here is the latest MB approved oil list. My friends run Pennzoil Ultra Euro 5W40 in similar cars with great success. Amazon usually has a great buy on it especially with "subscribe and save" Just make sure you save your receipts for oil and filter in case of any warranty claims.  BTW put new Bridgestone DriveGuard  on the CLA. What a difference. Now rides like  I believe most MB owners want it to ride/drive.  Bridgestone has 30 day drive and if you don't like them get a full refund. Enjoy.

Question 2

If my car is recommended 5w-30 and I use this, will it have any benefits or keep the engine from wearing for longer or any negative side effects?

I have been using 10w-30 Mobil one in my 1990 Audi for 7+ years, and the previous owner did the same, no problems ever.  I have heard some people say that older engines tend to get a little loose, and therefore you are better off going with a slightly thicker oil. Anyways, Mobil-1 recently changed their spec and no longer offer 10w-30, offering 0w-40 instead.  I double and triple checked on Mobil-1's website and they said that this new oil would be compatible, just a wider range of temperatures.  However, after installing it, I immediately had much, much lower engine pressure, at first I thought there was a leak in the system, the pressure dropped to near zero after a few minutes of warming up.  Long story short, it was the thin oil that was causing the low oil pressure. I'd stay with something heavier, a 5w or 10w if you don't want to have the same problem.  Big mistake by Mobil-1, by changing their spec and nowhere telling people this might be a problem, and even recommending it for my car.  Downsides include low oil pressure and possible increased engine wear.

Question 3

is this suitable for Diesels as well?

Not a 100% sure! However, they sell a diesel version of this Mobil one oil and it is much cheaper than the gas engine oil. Mobil One is an oil I trust to never fail me or my VW and considering I never plug in my VW Touareg in the -35 degree C winters here it says a lot!!!! Just saying! I have been using it for 11 years and it is amazing oil. The head Porsche mechanic highly recommended it at the VW / Porsche dealership that I use and it was the best advice ever. Mobil One 0W 40 is well worth the money in my opinion.

Is this LL01 approved?

Not anymore. Hasn't been BMW LL01, GT-R, and a couple others, since early 2016. The formulation changed when they changed to GTL production (gas to liquid). This is now called Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 (FS is very tiny on the right hand side of the label, and BMW is no longer on the list of brands on the front of the bottle. Amazon has never updated the pictures or description, and UPC has remained the same
