Like most of the people probably reading this, I have a ton of battery powered hand tools, mainly 18 and 12-volt models. For some time now I've been looking for ways to more effectively (and aesthetically) store them in a tidy fashion. So, I decided to give the "Drill Rack" and the separate "Storage Shelf" a try. When I received my order, I noticed something immediately which I did not expect - the box was much heavier than I was anticipating, particularly given the quality of products being made these days. Here's what I can tell you - these units are made from solid, heavy gauge steel, and they have a very nice matte/satin black powder coated finish which to me appears to be high quality. The stand-alone shelf is solid. If you use the included hardware and sink those lags into studs there is no way it's coming off the wall without taking most of the wall with it. Not a whole lot more to say about it because it's simply a shelf, but it's sturdy and it has a very nice finish, and its pretty nice to look at...for a shelf...lol. I'd also add that there is a nicely appointed lip around the edges, and all of the edges are really well finished so there is nothing sharp - nicely done. Most of the info I just mentioned previously also applies to the "Drill Rack" as well. It's the same gauge solid metal and excellent powder coat finish, and the same attention to detail on all the edged surfaces so there's nothing sharp or pointy. The drill rack is obviously not a shelf so it's not designed for a ton of weight, but it's still plenty sturdy and more than ample for drills, impact drivers, impact wrenches, and so on. In terms of Milwaukee and Ryobi tools, here's what I've noticed: some of them will fit in an upright position, some of them won't. Most of the time, flipping them over and hanging them upside down works without any issues. Only a few of my tools won't fit in these drill racks. Also, what I've noticed is if you store tools upside down and pointing outward (and like me you don't store tools with batteries attached), there is room behind each tool to basically comfortably store an 18-volt battery. So if you do store your tools upside down, pointing outward and pulled forward on the drill rack, you can get three or four 18-volt batteries on each drill rack with their accompanying tools, so your maximizing space efficiency. I've included a pic to illustrate this (please pay no attention to the mounting hardware in the pic as it is my own since I'm mounting into plywood and there are no studs and you'll also note I drilled a few extra wholes for mounting hardware since I can't sink lags into studs). Personally, I've found that I'm storing most of my tools upside down. I like putting the battery behind the tool. There's more than enough room with the Milwaukee tools and it also works with the Ryobi tools but there's a little less room. Nevertheless, it still works. I have a few Ridgid 12-volt tools. The impact and drill fit in an upright position, albeit slightly snug, but they fit. Hope this helps. Oh, I got the shelf and storage rack for about 35 bucks for the pair, so at that price point I have no complaints at all.
