Creating a confident swimmer!
My 3 year old absolutely loves this. From the moment we put it on, she was swimming confidently independently. She just went right into the water without fear, and has been swimming so proudly. I like that the design allows free movement of her arms, unlike the puddle jumper style float, and also allows her to lean forward and practice paddling while still keeping her afloat. I imagine we can slowly deflate the tube (there are two tubes, actually, so maybe just deflating a whole tube) to help her move toward more independent swimming as time goes on. I think she should be doing really well by the end of summer. We are hoping she can swim well before our trip to Orlando in August. So far so good! The only complaint we have about it is the crotch strap. She does complain about it sometimes, and the little pad doesn't really stay in place, so I can see why it's uncomfortable. I try to position it more in the leg area but it moves while she swims, and pulls taught while shes in the water due to her body weight through the tube, so she's sitting on the thin strap right between the cheeks. I think a foll coverage snap-on bottom made of the same material as the vest (like a baby onesie style, so still easy on and off) would have been more comfortable and easy enough to implement in the design (and I would have paid more for that option). I may try stitching the pad in place where it should be, since I don't imagine she will outgrow the strap-size before she is swimming without it, but it doesn't really seem to do that much in the way of padding anyway. Overall, still a great purchase that we have very much enjoyed! Worth it for the proud look on my daughter's face!

Great for 1-2 year old
My daughter (2yo) went from clinging to me to confidence and relaxation in the pool. It also let's her do all of the normal swimming movements so its becoming muscle memory before she swims without it.

Useful but not 100% reliable
My 2 year old loves her floatie and I like that it shows her to swim on her belly. She spins around and kicks all over the place. The biggest negative are the plastic tube really needs to be replaced with a rubber one and the plastic valve will randomly pop out causing it to deflate (had two products I've tested this on). So needless to say I'm having to watch her like a hawk for any changes. If they put a bicycle valve on it instead like a real innertube this would solve that problem. The other issue is the cord that buckles, it needs to be wider in the middle so that it doesn't give them an instant deep wedgie. That like sliding piece does nothing for this problem as it moves out of place almost instantly. This product gives us some freedom but can't be trusted completely which is why I'm giving it a 4 not 5 star. I'm currently looking for a rubber infertile to replace this one so I'll have more peace of mind.

Finally, a swim vest that does exactly what it should!!!!
My 3 year old son who is approximately 34lbs loves to swim in our pool, but some days I just don't feel like going swimming!! I had searched for the perfect vest for him to wear that was both safe and comfortable. I purchased 3 vests before this and none of them worked!!!!! Each vest he wore before wouldn't hold his upper body up and he was constantly tipping forward and getting mouthfuls of water. If a child's a beginner with swimming , then most likely he/she doesn't have the upper strength or correct posture to hold their body up right when they first learn to swim!!!!!....Why some of these beginner vests do not support all children is beyond me!!Obviously with swimming pools, or any water in general, safety is our BIGGEST concern.I would never - ever, ever leave my son unattended in any water , not even for a second!!! But I wanted a safe swimming vest for him that allowed him the freedom to swim and have fun and also allowed me to not have to go in to the pool and be smack up against him (because I didn't trust the vest.) I like sitting on the pool ladder or at the edge of our deck, and I wanted that option if he wanted to swim. But I couldn't find a vest that was safe enough that allowed that to happen!Until now!!!... This is by far the BEST swimming vest I've came across. It works perfectly , is very safe and fits very comfortably. There's an adjustable strap that is made of a very flexible material that goes between the legs. I think the point of the strap is to keep the weight evenly distributed and stops the float from possibly flipping over if the child puts to much of his or her weight forward. Exactly what I needed for my son since he does this often , as being a beginning swimmer because he sometimes doesn't flap his arms and will just lay flat kicking his feet, or he likes to look at the bottom of the pool. Please take my advice - if your looking for a safe, comfortable ,vest look no further. Honestly, this vest is exactly what I was looking for. It's such a relief knowing my son is safe when he wants to swim and if I don't want to go in the water , I'm able to sit off to the side on the ladder or edge of the pool (watching his every move of course!!!!) and not having to be in the pool or having him clung to me because both of us are to terrified to let him go! So happy I found this Aqua Tot Trainer and I think you will be too!

Child Went Upside Down in Water
We put our toddler in this inner tube to float around the pool with us (with our hands on her at all times) and stepping off into the pool where she could not touch, the inner tube flipped upside down where our child's head was under water and her feet were straight in the air. We, of course, immediately removed the device and went with another option. I was hoping this was a good alternative to the puddle jumper, but it was significatnly worse. She wore it less than 10 seconds in the water.Thankfully because we were watching her so closely, we were able to pick her up and she was totally fine. It happened so quickly.

top runs small
This item was great except for the fit of the top. I purchased for my grandson 27lbs the float part was wonderful I could let go standing right next to him and he didn't fall forward nor backwards. The fit of the top part was to small pulled down even after strap was tightened. I wish they made this in sizes or separately.
