Findus and Pettson live in a red farmhouse, with a henhouse, workshop and toolshed set among forests, fields and meadows.One day, Findus finds a tent in the attic. Pettson starts imagining how it will be going camping by the lake, catching fish and grilling them over the fire as the sun sets. This is not exactly how things turn out, as Findus, Pettson and the hens try hiking in the garden. My four year old loves this series particularly. We act out the ridiculousness of the stories throughout the day wheneve rthe fancy strikes him. It is relatable to children AND most wonderfully to adults as well. Not a book you get tired of telling to your child. The first time and subsequent times I find myself chuckling to the antics of the duo and their adventures. You find new illustrations every time you tell it and they are funny yet intelligent characters. Worth every penny for the entire collection. My son is 7yrs and we love the quirky characters; interesting scenarios; humour; and those great pictures. We notice something new on each reading. We also love the fact that the stories are not predictable and the characters, while eccentric, are quite believeable!! We would definately recommend them from age 5+. Can't wait for the next one!!

Sven Nordqvist is a brilliant author.
Sven Nordqvist, what a tremendously wonderful find for a children’s author. We have a no screen time home amd Waldorf homschool. My four year old loves this series particularly. A great read!
This is the third book we've read containing the charaters Findus and Pettson and we weren't disappointed! My son is 7yrs and we love the quirky characters; interesting scenarios; humour; and those great pictures. We notice something new on each reading. camping with chickens?
An amazing story about fear and inventions and gossipy neighbours as well as a little about camping with chickens. Just as delightful as Nordqvist's other books - both story and illustrations.

Delightful book!
Our family enjoys all of the Sven Nordqvist books and this book is no exception! Findus and Pettson have their silly moments, but underneath their muttering and misadventures, these two genuinely care for one another. This is not a simply captioned picture book, it is richly illustrated and the story is long and enjoyable. Very young children may not be able to get through the story in one sitting, but it is worth every minute. You will find yourselves returning to this, and other books by this author, for many years.
