Finally found a titanium leader that can be crimped
When using the Nitta Fishing Innovations R3/N3 bait rigs combination, the leader for the trailing hook has to be doubled over in order to thread it through the bait's mouth and gills. When steel leader is used, the trailing hook's wire ends up bent and has to be straightened. Titanium wire, on the other hand, can be bent in half to thread it through the fish, yet it bounces back nice and straight. The challenge was finding titanium wire leader that could be crimped so the connections could be as streamlined as possible. Some titanium leaders can't be crimped. The AFW Surfstrand 7-strand titanium wire is designed to be crimped and is perfect for that application. This wire leader is rated at 75 pounds. AFW recommended their #5 crimp but I think the person I corresponded with was mistaken. It was much too loose.Their #3 crimp, on the other hand, was an ideal match, and was proven to provide a very solid link for its wire leader.I tested it with a simple setup using two "S" hooks, a couple pieces of cord and a bucket.I kept adding weight to the bucket, at first in 15-pound increments to 60 pounds, then in smaller increments until the leader failed. If you do this, you will want to cover the leader being tested with a towe to prevent it from flying off somewhere into the yard. With it being black and thin, it's pretty tough to find. With one crimp, the loop slipped at 60 pounds and the leader broke at 78 pounds. When two crimps were used, neither loop slipped at all. The leader eventually failed at 80.5 pounds. The attached photos shows the simple test rig and the loop that stayed intact when the leader material eventually gave way.

surfstrand vs shark
Hello I am a serious fisherman lets just say i do it all. I fish in north carolina king makerel, spanish, blues, sharks, and tarpon.Let me tell you this product works i hooked a 7 foot hammerhead shark no problem. Even when he went into the pylons under the pier it wasnt a problem. The true test was the 8 foot spinner shark. Which if anyone has cought one of these u know it isnt easy. They get their name from the giant jumps and spinning in mid air, and surf strand did its job.

Best thing since sliced bread..........
I found this to be the best wire product on the market. It is thin, supple, and strong. I have landed fish upwardsof 100lb on the 50lb wire. It actually stretches to absorb the force of the strike and subsequent load. On rare occasionsi have had a singe strand (1 out of 7) break, usually after a wahoo has eaten it. Make sure you read the crimping instructions asit differs from traditional wire.
