These are almost certainly magnets. They stick readily to metal things and to each other with considerable enthusiasm. They're quite small, though, so it's difficult to be sure.

Great little magnets
I got these for a magnetic chess board project I'm doing, They work great and are very strong for theirs size. The only reason this isn't a 5 star is because they still are just not strong enough to hold a wooden chess piece vertically with 2 in the board and 2 in the piece.
