The Long Shadow of Antiquity: What Have the Greeks and Romans Done for Us? Paperback – February 7, 2019

Have only read 50 pages and am in love with this book. A great companion to Greg Aldrete's Great Courses series on the Roman Republic and The Roman Empire. I particularly like his emphasis on language throughout. Very readable. If you are interested in antiquity, this book is a must read. Remember, the timeframe for humanity's imprint on the earth is a tiny, tiny period of time. So much of ancient Greece and Rome are alive in Western culture today.

Very readable. The "past" is made to feel present, in that many aspects of our own contemporary daily lives were very similar and recognizable in ancient Greece and Rome, such as food recipes, socializing, apartments, and coinage. The reader feels a sense of being a participant with all those others of the "past."

Would that every history prof could teach the way Dr. Aldrete does. His course with the teaching company was fabulous and his writing is no less. Please -- write more and publish more teaching video courses.

Great as always. Aldrete is an amazing author and lecturer!
