This is very light so whatever it is, it is not steel. Others have stated measurements. The axel is thinner than the frame. It just needs a better base inside. I don't know why some people are having problems with it. Mine has only been used once but performed excellently. It got packed with a barbecue tool case containing small musical instruments and a week's worth of clothing. I also had a bag hanging off it. It travelled by train and underground, up and down staircases and provided I kept it straight I had no bother.
