not compatible with UK systems
had an engineer come to install and he was confused by how 'thin' the box was. when he went inside he discovered it was the US version, which is incompatible with UK central heating systems. he remarked that he has never seen a UK version in brass. dishonest for amazon to allow this to be sold here

Sleek looking, works great once installed properly
This is much more sleek looking than the regular Nest thermometer that we have upstairs. Installation was a bear because we blew a fuse. Turn off the breaker, but also turn off the furnace separately. Ours is in the attic so didn't climb up there to turn it off. Kept getting random error messages during install - power not connected to AC, couldn't detect the R wire, etc. Tried everything. Finally gave up and called an HVAC guy. He came out and diagnosed and changed the fuse on the furnace for $129. Other than that, the install should have been easy. Very happy with it now and happy we paid the extra $$ for this model.

No C wire, 2-wire heat-only system
We had to do a TON of research in order to get the right thermostat, one that would work WITHOUT a C wire and also accommodate an old 2 wire Honeywell thermostat. This is the one! Finally! We only had the R and W wires on our old thermostat, the upgrade was so smooth that it literally took only 6 minutes from start to finish to get it up and running! If you have a heat only system, no C wire, and only 2 wires to integrate, buy this. The lithium ion battery actually charges itself as the system runs. Beautiful! Works perfectly with Alexa too!

Could NEVER go back to a regular thermostat
The Nest thermostat is everything and more! We bought the cheaper one at first, and returned it for this. The design is much more beautiful and upscale! I run cold easily and was consistently getting up to set the temperature. I love that you can adjust it with the app, but the real game changer is having it programmed with Alexa! We found a brass plate to cover the holes (instead of using the trim kit) for a more elegant look. Love this product and highly recommend!
