7/16- 14 TIME-SERT to repair strip threads in aluminum bellhousing
Once I removed this from the box you could tell that this is very high quality made product. I used these to repair the stripped out threads in my aluminum bell housing for my 1985 Jeep cj7. This is a common problem on these Bell housings. These may seem like they are a little expensive but it is worth every penny considering it would have cost me $300 for a new bell housing and buying a used one I probably would have ran into the same problem. Very easy to use the only thing I needed to do was buy longer inserts as it came with half inch long inserts and I needed 1 in Long. Had the repair finished in about 20 minutes. My only grief and frustration is with Amazon. For a product that comes in a plastic case the size of about 6 in by 4 in they would box up. What morons would put $100 product that comes in a plastic box in a unpadded envelope. Luckily nothing was damaged but from now on I am going to enter that this is a gift so everything will be boxed up. I understand they are pressed for time in the shipping department but if they're not going to use their brains I will have them go the extra length to box it up. It seems like they're doing this more and more. Just click this is a gift if you do purchase and it will be boxed up.

Great product.
I used these to repair some pulled threads on an engine block where the head bolts attach. A previous builder had used HeliCoil type inserts on these holes and they failed. These are rock-solid and I have no doubt that they will last as long as this engine does.

Good tools, but get different inserts
This kit was very easy to use. It has easy to use instructions inside that give you good step by step instructions in order to successfully install the inserts. However, do not use these inserts if you are going to be using them for medium to high torque situations. I got mine to about 40 foot-pounds, and then the insert straight up fell apart. For the money you have to pay to get this, I'd expect them to be able to withstand more than that. The tools are great, and were easy to use, I just wouldn't suggest using the provided inserts.

I saw the demo for the Time-sert on line and thought it would be a great fix. I did run into one problem in ...
I recently stripped the treads of a head stud in my 1930 Model A. I saw the demo for the Time-sert on line and thought it would be a great fix. I did run into one problem in that the hole to put the Time-sert into was the same length as the Time-sert. Since the tool to thread the hole does not have the treads that go all the way to the bottom, the Time-sert would not screw all the way in. I did not feel comfortable drilling the hole in the block deeper to accommodate the length need. So I ground the end of the Time-sert so it would screw all the in. There still seemed be be plenty on thread to lock it in place in the block. This solved the problem and the A is back on the road running fine.
