The best way to fix that loose shifter forever.
I don't normally write reviews, but I felt this item deserved a few minutes of my time.Excellent product & company. Bushings were delivered quickly, were the correct item for my application & were easy to install.I will start by saying that I am a self employed automotive technician with 30+ years in the business. My shop specializes mainly in Honda & Acura cars & trucks. I dabble in mostly Japanese imports, but will work on almost anything as the need arises. I work for myself, by myself & take great pride in fixing things right, the first time, every time. This 2001 PT Cruiser was recently purchased by one of my long time customers. When he called me to announce the purchase, I was surprised because he had been looking for a small SUV & had asked me about the CRV & the RAV4. He said the PT Cruiser was a 2001 with just over 7,000 miles on it (yes, seven thousand miles). I found that hard to believe, but it was true. He brought the car by & it looks brand new. His only complaint....... the shifter seemed loose.I wiggled the shifter & it seemed loose, at least if it was a Honda it would have been loose. I opened the hood & without removing anything, I could plainly see that the bushing was gone out of the end of the one of the cables. I quick call to my local Chrysler dealer resulted in a heart stopping $320.00 + quote for new cables. Yes, there are 2 cables & they are sold as a set. Bushings are not available separately. I thought to myself, that's B.S.After looking up the labor & shocking him with an almost $550.00 estimate, I told him I would contact him the next day with some alternatives. A quick internet search turned up these bushings from Torque Solution. Seemed like the perfect remedy, so I ordered a set that evening. I placed my order Tuesday night & got them with Friday's mail. Excellent service. The bushings were very easy to install.Inside: Remove 4 screws from the console, the boot from around the shifter & unplug the wiring for the rear window switches. Pull the parking brake ALL the way up & I mean ALL the way up. Then lift the rear of the console up until it clears the parking brake & the shifter. Leaving the “power outlet” wiring connected, set the console into the passenger floor. Working from each side of the shifter, remove the old bushings by any means that you desire. I used a pocket screwdriver & had the only remaining bushing out in just a few seconds. Install the new bushings & clips & your done. Reassembly is reverse of removal.Outside: Remove upper & lower air cleaner housings. Loosen the clamp for the air tube going to the intake & everything else comes out by hand. Remove the 2 - 10mm headed bolts for the fuse box bracket & move the fuse box out of the way. Mine wouldn't move far, so I had to work around it, wasn't bad. Replace the bushings, just like you did inside & your done. Reassembly is reverse of removal. If yours are anything like mine, you will find that most of your bushings are already gone. I only had 1 intact bushing, out of 4, so replace them all. It's easy & you will save yourself, or your customer hundreds of dollars.Hopefully the hard plastic bushings will outlast the soft factory rubber bushings many times over. Highly recommend product. 5 Stars for a $19.00 item that will fix the shifter cable better than new. They were easy to install & saved my customer hundreds of dollars. That's a customer that will be back, bring friends & family. Money in the bank. Whats not to love?gg - arbez

These are hard plastic bushings.
I bought these thinking that they were a hard rubber or polyurethane. They are hard plastic--Delrin. I should've researched it.These bushings will make shifting hard and clunky, like shifting in a tractor. I think it feels terrible. The OEM Chrysler bushings are perforated rubber to make shifting smooth and easy. The upside is that these Delrin bushings will last longer than the OEM rubber bushings. And they are less likely to pop out of gear if you are having that problem. Also, you have to install these bushings with the lip-side up. The problem is that the large bushing doesn't sit flat in the cable holder--there are two small protrusions that prevent that. The OEM bushings are notched to fit those nodes. In fact, the large bushing fits better upside down--the wrong way. If installed upside down, the cable can potentially slip off the cable holder. So, you should take a file and notch the bushings for a better fit.BTW, if your car is popping out of gear, you should check your engine and transmission mounts first. Solid bushings will help for a while but the problem will eventually return.

Easy to install, fixed sloppy shifting
The first time the bushings wore out on my PT, my mechanic changed out the whole cable assembly, which was big bucks (and he said it was a pain). When the rubber bushings wore out again, I ordered these and did it myself. The ones at the tranny end (which were the most worn) were really easy to change...the ones at the shifter end were harder (and, truth be told, I probably should have left them alone--the old rubber ones were softer than these, but worked ok). Car shifts much more precisely now...only issue is, seems a bit harder to get it into reverse. Have to be a lot more precise.

Great
These were used to replace the bushings on a friend's PT Cruiser shift cable. It was going to be a temporary fix until she could afford a new cable (like 5X the cost of this at the cheapest), but this is still working perfectly more than a year later. She is very happy. I was happy with how quick and easy they were to install.

Perfect upgrade to cheaply made original & replacement parts
I ordered these after replacing the clutch bushings with the replacement parts offered at a local parts place (AutoZone i believe). The ones i got from the local store failed after a week, & i was happy i ordered these before they failed. Popped them in, & attached the retaining clips, & i couldn't be happier. Perfect fit, & you can tell the material wont just heat up & fall apart like the other seemed to.

Serves it's purpose
Super durable, but did not improve shift issues.

So far so good.
The bushings in the picture don't match what is shipped (which is a good thing because PT Cruisers require one oversized bushing.). They fit fine and seem to work.
