Eat your water!
Eat your Water!Quench by Dana Cohen, M.D and Gina Bria is a very informative and easy to read book describing how hydration effects health in more ways that what we have previously learned. We have all heard to drink eight glasses of water a day, but could this too much or too little, and are all sources of hydration the same? What about how hydration impacts your skin, your immune system, and even your energy levels?Quench informs the reader not just about these subjects but also includes the different types and benefits of proper hydration as well as providing a daily protocol with recipes. Along the way, the reader also learns how movement, self-massage, sweat, medications, red light therapy, and even electronic usage affect hydration levels in the body. The author emphasizes that it is better to “eat” your water for optimal absorption, distribution and storage in the body and then provides food and methods to properly source and prepared for more effective and longer lasting hydration. Some of the more interesting topics to me were the recent discoveries of Structured water as well as how our fascia is a primary hydration delivery system. The discovery of “new” states water (structured or gel) which fans Dr. Gerald Pollack would recognize are also supported by fascinating studies from University of California, Berkeley as well as Cornel’s “spine of hydration”. One conclusion being how a there is a denser form of water inside our bodies that is activated by light waves – allowing scientists better insight to how the body repairs and regenerates cells.Another recent discovery authors Cohen and Bria share is how the fascia effectively form the largest system in the body and how this touches every other system. For the first time, researchers have discovered that fascia is more than just a protective wrapping for our organs and muscle, but in fact is one of the body’s major water transport systems a conductor of electricity. Apparently, there are more miles of fascia than the forty-seven miles of nerves in the human body! In other words, because water expedites electrical signaling, “fascia is rather like the fiber optic system of communication and information of the body”. Maybe this is why massage and acupuncture have such therapeutic effects!Along with case studies, the practical portions of Quench educate the reader not just about what type of foods are more hydrating and how to better source and prepare, but also how proper hydration can effect digestion, energy, headaches, skin, bloating, and many common chronic diseases. Finally, it was refreshing to read about a health issue that can immediately compliment and support whichever health protocol you may be doing. One thing is for certain though, since we are mostly comprised of water – staying properly hydrated is absolutely fundamental to allowing our body to optimally function.

Literally A GIFT to all of us!!
This book is outstanding, the new bible of hydration that contains a wealth of information in a few hundred pages, as promised. It is so interestingly written that I have had a hard time putting it down. I feel literally privileged to have found all of this important information in one place, and to not have had to get an appointment with this physician author or pay to go to a lecture. THIS Book IS A GIFT! I remember back during all of my 76 years doctors would tell me to drink more water. Then, I learned that water was not enough you had to have salt too. Well, what kind of salt and how much? A very important question that was never answered for me until I read this book. Worth much more than I paid for it! Enjoy!!!Please let yourself ignore any criticism of the science, I have a degree which included classes in Biochemistry and Physiology and the science is, of course, sound as you would expect from authors of this caliber. And. don’t worry about Working Hard to change your diet. As the authors so wisely pointed out, you can choose something as simple as the salt and water idea or what the anthropologist put into her mother’s orange juice at the nursing home each morning. All of us have the right to tell people what our opinions are about this or any book. I would enjoy reading these reviews more if people would make sure of their facts, and that their comments are germane and helpful. In my opinion, the last thing a reviewer should do is discourage people from getting vital information.

informative, Interesting Read
I especially appreciated the micro movements explained in depth for use during different parts of the day. I was surprised to see an endorsement from Dr. Christiane Northrop which in my opinion diminishes the value of the book rather than enhances it.

Got My Energy Back!
I’ve known and followed Dr. Cohen for years. She helped me get rid of chronic eczema and keep my gut and immune system on track. I bought several copies of her book so I can share with close friends. Quench is easy to read and the plan is easy to follow. I don’t always follow it to a T but when I do I feel great physically and mentally. Plus I enjoy drinking smoothies and getting the nutrients and hydration that I need. When i follow it I feel like a dehydrated, droopy plant that’s been given some water and you watch it spring back to life. I was always believed I had to chug tons of water, which isn’t always convenient and it’s kind of boring. I’ve changrd my outlook and feel great!! Plus with all of the smoothie and juice bars popping up and the availability in supermarkets it’s an easy lifestyle to stick to. Dr Cohen, you’ve helped me again!

Fascinating overview of hydration and how to achieve it
I loved this book! The science was sound and it is well referenced. I learned a ton I didn’t know and I’ve been reading in health and wellness for over 10 years now. I especially love how practical it is to apply these tips. You can do as little or as much as you like. It may be difficult if your transitioning from a standard American diet but if you’re already eating fairly well - not too much processed, watching dairy and meat intake, thinking about quality (organic, locally sourced) and buying on occasion, you’ll find this a nice next step. I’m so excited about this book I plan on reading all the recommendations they give and trying as many recipes as I can (have some food sensitivities so won’t be able to for some). I do think this is information for everyone - and I’m hoping for me personally that the Quench program holds the key to my chronic dry eyes. Definitley a good read!

Great information about rehydrating a body!
The authors explain in layman's terms why we get dehydrated, the effects it has on the body plus the importance of rehydrating for better health. Also includes many recipes, with way more than drinks and smoothies, but also soups and some wonderful entrees!

The background story to this development is rivetting
Not only is this book informative about the benefits of proper hydration but the background story of the doctor who effectively discovered the many benefits is incredible. It is worth the read just for that.

Truly lifechanging!
This is one of the most incredible books I've come across in a long time. I've often struggled with the thought that if we're supposed to be drinking 2L of water a day, why do so many people find that so hard? Quench gives the answer and how to take water deeper into the body with plants. I love the 5-day program and how different I feel. But I also love the in-depth information and real-life examples including the elderly and dehydration affects on the brain.I was so impressed a bought a hard copy for a friend of mine who is a personal trainer. I can't recommend this book highly enough! Love it.
